How do you cut out the shapes for those projects? Do you buy templates or patterns? Or are you just good at geometry?

I welded very little today, or yesterday for that matter. I did clear 25 birdnests of .045 Dual Shield. If I had hair, I'd be tearing it out. I don't know what to do! My plan for the weekend was building a new trailer hitch for the Top Kick truck. No, I did NOT finish.

Too tight on the rollers probably. We don't use knurled either smooth ones like the hardwire uses.maybe loosen the front rollers if there's two sets. Could be a liner issue. Make sure that's smooth.

welded most of my chair up that will be used at our dinner table. Had a decent gap here. May go play on it more tomorrow. Didn't have a grinder to grind my tungsten and bumped it so it was done lol, did weld 90% of it out

That one with the esab feeder at least ooks like they trimed off the shopping basket bit and made it look good... The ones with the miller feeders were the ones that annoyed me

A mix of the bosses and my welding. the boss does this. Hopefully I'll get here soon to his levelthe board pocket I put together and weldedthe bosses weld. Had a little undercut since I wasn't back stepping doing the j whip. the bosses weld and mine starts at the grind mark. Might have started before that lol

Only had one small welding job this week. Set up a water tanker trailer to fill cattle troughs. Whole 30 minutes, but I did have to take my truck to pick up and deliver... same hourly rate .

It's a lot easier than bench pressing heavy parts under trucks. I was going to do this project out of the service truck in their yard, but it's been raining for 24 hours and they wanted it TODAY. The quote was reasonable to the owner to pick it up (10 miles each way) and bring it back.

Geez Moto!!!!!!!! The overhead in the first pic looks as bad as what I did today...........AND I'M HALF BLIND!!!!!!!! I say, I say, Son.........ya gotta start uppin' yer game!!

Root pass. Probably was a gap on the bottom weld too. That's why it's so small and tight.it gets Welded over right away with a second pass. We have issues welding it out and not get bubbles for some reason when u try and run a single pass to hot. Awalys got bubbles running single pass

I would think that porosity would surface in the second pass.

For those of you getting tired of me whining about my bad internet connection out in the sticks, I think I may finally have found a solution. Starlink. Problem is, despite living on an escarpment, my yard is actually in a hollow surrounded by tall trees near the top of the hill. Since the Starlink dish has to rotate to follow the satellites, I needed to get up above obstructions, so why build a tower when you have tall grain bins in the yard? This is pretty simple and yes, I know the welds are "farmer ugly" and it will get a couple braces once we finalize the dish angle. The tubing had a former life in a set of harrows on the back of a deep tiller, so it's pretty sturdy stuff.
