Not much welding in this one... more metal carving. I needed to add a micro switch to my tractor's GPS so it would turn on and off with the PTO lever to get an accurate measure of the amount of field sprayed. The switch came with a generic one size fits all magnetic base that wouldn't work with a plastic dash full of gauges, so it was time to doctor up something strange to hold it.

It came with one magnet, but I thought the extra leverage could be a problem, so I scavenged another one off a dead rotating beacon. With the switch attached, this is what things looked like.

One idiot light is partially blocked, but it's the one for the air filter and I blow it out daily. I haven't had it come on in the field in 35 yrs so I don't think it's an issue. Working around the existing levers, steering column and light switches made things interesting... only below the dash is metal for the magnets.


A quick test flight around the yard showed that it did indeed turn the mapping on and off with the PTO engagement, so success so far. I might end up making another version with stronger magnets if it won't hold on rough ground in the field.

[N2 Welding]

I was working on a mini tractor earlier. A JD 316 and I had to make a part to support some hydro lines for a little 30 hydro tiller. It's not much but going from images out of a user manual I think I did ok. First pic is what I was trying to duplicate the rest is my progress making it.

Made some pinewood derby - sorry, "pinecar derby" (since this is unsanctioned by BSA or whatever they're called now) - trophies out of some crap wrenches and other scrap laying around. I still need to write "1st Place Overall" on both then clear coat the walnut bases. It was a fun, quick project that our church youth group and primary kids will hopefully enjoy (only had time to make a 1st place trophy for each group). Sorry if the pic is rotated, or if you can see them at all with all the mess in the background .

I use Paint Shop Pro... I just copy the pic off the forum, paste it into PSP and the rotate it 90 degrees, save and repost

I use an old version 5 that I was used to for years... easy to learn and play with

Picassa is another old Google program available at oldversion.com. It's very simple to use and gives you some primary photoshop options without the headaches of learning the Photoshop program. Easy for resizing files that are too big off your camara too.

I don't even understand the "resizing" comment.

I suppose it's a good thing I only have my small phone camera,huh?

This morning I needed a right angle impact wrench for a close quarter area, so I built one. The 5/8" nut keeps the air hammer punch on target.

the boss welded above the side and top set of welds on dog house. Gota weld the inside of it tomorrow had a little issue today with the core wire wanting to run cold and trap the slag. Usually I blow the wire off but didn't today. Figured maybe a wire problem or shielding gas, it wanted to run cold mid weld and pop on the slag, stopped the first time after a couple inches and burned it in 2nd and third time. It seems to be eating cups too. The boss wanted to not trust me about it at first and gave me ****. We had a big problem with the machine a while ago and then the other machine wire feeder gave us problems. it's going through the cups. I'll start getting small holes in the weld and it will get worse and worse. You can actually get away with making a small weld but were welding dump trucks lol. The boss can make the worn out cup work. He does a fast whip and pause. I watched and when he pulls the wire out of the puddle and it under cuts the base metal then he fills it in and gets a nice flat wetted bead. But that's not my style. When I notice those bubbles I just get a new cup and not a hole after that or hours of grind welds.

Two stage shaker table for arrowhead hunting.
First sifter is 3/8" expanded metal, second sifter is 1/4" hardware cloth to catch bird points and small chips and artifacts.

Nice, I'm using version 7 still works on my win 10 desktop.

I remember they offered at one time a version as shareware, that's where I first started with them
