Never saw that toy at any shows Kevin.
Is it a contact spot welder like jewlers used to use or does it establish a pulsed arc?

I tend to agree. Someplace I have a 1970s vintage Jeweler.s welder - that seems to be mostly an AC supply with provision for a 1/32 carbon. It will provide a lot of heat into copper wire when held between the ground and "stinger". Seems to function similarly to a Rigid soldering machine.

Phone dial on yours indicates it delivers pulsed output using the dial.

Does the lower post come up to meet the upper electrode when the butterfly handles are depressed?

1965 model. Pretty worn out. Right lead hardly operable. Bad wiring down to the left power leg. Can still be used, but needs daily upkeep and lots of fuel additives to stay running.

I have a 1929 SAE200 "Torpedo" that I bring to jobs where the three phase power is not steady(the rotation smooths it out) and they don't have a transformer to use a 230 volt welder....trying to use 2 of the 3 legs makes for some weird welding...Oh ya they pay for the power!!! These are a SA200 generator with a huge three phase motor in the middle but with alot more arc control(like a SAE300)....heavy as all ++++ but fun to use(if your not paying the power bill)

I have an old WW2 era MID STATES 300 AMP AC machine, I don't use it much but it works great. Spec plate says 100% duty cycle at full output, I think the stinger handle would get to hot to hang onto after a while.

I have a 96 year old welder that I've been using for about 40 years. Welds beads like nobody's business. Perfect stack of dimes on stainless and aluminum.

I hope to live as long as little Jimmy as his friends call him. Last year his wife told him to retire. He said they couldn't afford to live on the piddly social security that he gets.

Only job he won't do is on a ladder.

Haven't dug into history records yet, eldest undetermined but likely in this order. Betting two are close, dead heat for 3.
Somewhere before Miller, after Weld N Power is round top Lincoln 250 AC/DC Idealarc, no good pics.
This Weld-N-Power 200 is spiffy, not sure it qualifies as 'portable'; mounted on un-wheeled skid. 2 cyl Wisconsin THD

"Welder" is a broad category, oldest in this stable must be this water cooled spotwelder.

Devoid of tags, not even cast-in name, solid iron case, every inch copper wire. And Heavy. Works perfectly, wants range selection plunger repaired.
    It'll burn HRS 1/8" to 1/8", HRPO 10ga to 10ga, & galv 14 or 12, big enough for me.

This will be once its fully restored. I will do a nut and bolt full restoration on it. I saved it from the scrapyard this morning. Serial number is so old Millers website doesn't recognize it. HH098775

The Miller sticker on the side is interesting. Red ring.

What is the Model or Part Number on it? That would bring up some information, showing which manuals applied during which time periods.

FWIW, either my Millermatic 200 or the Syncrowave 250 (I forget which) has a Serial Number starting with HK. The other unit might be earlier; I should check later today about both.

I think I’ll start a thread on the restoration of this welder. It will be done properly.

They were good running machines. We had very little problems with them.
