Remove the side cover and use your favorite brand of finesse on the valves.
Mine happens to be gently rattling on 'em with a blunt bit in air chisel.
Hey Dudes,
I picked up a SA 200 F-162 that has been siting under a shed and not cranked since 1988. I turned the crank before I paid the guy and was happy that it turned freely not realizing it was turning a little too freely. Got it home hooked up a battery, blowing back through the carb and exhaust at the same time. Pulled the plugs no compression on any cyl. I have soaked with Marvel Mystery for the past two days and with the help of some down pressure with a brass rod on the valves under the plugs have compression on cyl #2. The valves not under the plugs are challenging to apply down pressure to while turning the engine by hand. Anyone want to throw a big ol' book of knowledge on me? I dont want to have to find and buy the gaskets to remove the head, intake and exhaust to complete this task. I have fire and gas just need compression to check out the welder before I decide to spend $ on a rebuild. Thanks for the help!

Agreed just did this on my 48 shorthood last weekend
What about the gasket? Blue Glue?
Had a stubborn one. Side cover off, head off, two hours later exhaust valve cyl #4 out. Broke the spring retainer with some of that pry bar finesse you were describing earlier. Gonna clean the valve stem up good tomorrow and see if it will jump back in. If you have any more of those part numbers handy I would be most appreciative.
Top radiator hose-take to Napa
Small hose from pump-take to Napa
Head Gasket which really looks good but I will change if I can get one easy
Valve spring retainer-broke @ 1/2 of the flange off that the spring comes in contact with
Manifold Gasket looks great
Side Cover gasket Napa #VS5420R - thanks to Pipeliner for the info
Thanks for the help ye experienced ones.
There is an SA200 Sticky thread here at the top of this Lincoln page. The radiator hoses are in there for sure. I don't know about the bypass hose. Lots of other good stuff in there too.

This thread is better than having the original owners manual!
If you still want to soak em use a 50/50 mix of acetone and atf.

Marvel Mystery Oil all up in here and all over me. I still haven't had any luck finding a valve keeper to replace the one I broke. My valve stems are drilled with a pin. If anyone has an old one up under a workbench somewhere I'll buy it from you! I'll take advice on where to get a new one as well.
Find a drill bit the same size as the missing pin and cut the solid end to length. That's what I would do.

Use a dowel pin or a spring pin

I mean spring pin or roll pin

Attention all you welding veterans that welded with a red face when it was new and anyone participating in the Welding Helment thread talking about how they cant see anymore. Will you turn the halogens on in those old smoked up dusty shops and reach for that old metal coffee can on the back shelf labeled Continental F162 parts and see if you have a valve keeper in the can you would sell to a poor young mountain boy from North Carolina? Shucks if you could tell me where I can buy a new one I would jump up and down. Thank You!
