I have a 7.3 Stroke with 210K on it and it is a dream. I would take any 6.9 or 7.3 if the price was rite, an IP costs $300 at the most and injectors are $25 ea at the most. The old slugs will run on drain oil, piss, or what ever else you throw at them. They are the definition of a bullet proof motor. Sure they may be gutless, but if your fuel is free who cares.

All of the above, watch for the cavitation issues, One thing on the power of these trucks, You can drive 1 and get in another and find it totally different. A very important thing on these trucks is timing. Most of the mechanic static time them, they run fine but with specialty equipment they can be timed spot on dynamically while they are running, you will find they get up and go quite well. Not as good as a turbo, but definately not a slug. These trucks are more suited to the do it yourselfer and there are virtually no electronics on the motor, and parts are much more reasonable than the powerstroke, especially the fuel systems. Automatics will be electronically controlled though and the E4OD can be tempormental.
