At least it's not a class II hitch socket but probably rated a class 0.

I never use factory made bumpers they will let you down. Today I use a 2" size bolt to frame.

This is across the street from me. A friend of mine passed a couple of yrs ago and his daughters auctioned off most of his junk collection. One of the buyers
loaded this tlr up and it has a 3" channel frame and steel grate deck. Notice how the chain holding the jeep body is hooked to the deck. This looks like a potential train wreck to me. I hope the staties pull him over before someone gets badly injured or killed.

i am going to bet that's a lag bolt and it doesn't even go all the way through the board, no less the receiver....

What the heck happened there??? Did the fifth wheel punch through the pickup bed and push the spring mounts downward?

    I don't understand the picture.

Looks like failed u-bolts, springs still attached to the truck. Wonder if a leveling/lift kit was poorly installed?

You can see the drivers side wheel is peeking out behind the bumper!

Interesting that the driveshaft separated at the rear u-joint instead of pulling out of the back of the transmission/transfer case. Rear axle lock up?

    Re: Trailer fail pics

well... in his defense he did put a gusset plate on the arm to strengthen it and it's pretty and blue

and so it doesn't get stuck in the receiver he used 1.5" tubing.. thinking ahead

    Re: Trailer fail pics

Unfortunately the gusset is of no use because the hitch is upside down in the receiver. I am guessing this was done to give more clearance for overloaded tongue weight.

Love this thread, see some of the craziest **** . I don't follow Harry Home owner towing. I've actually seen a clown towing a trailer. Bungee wrapped around the tongue coupler & hitch.

Possible lockup but I don't see see skid marks.

But something moved that axle rearward. I like homanfab's theory of a poorly installed lift kit.

The axle rotating would also explain why the driveline broke at the rear u-joint.

That's the new, patent pending, extra articulation off road tow receiver!
