Lots of good ideas there Duker. I've seen the extension at the far end a few times on tables guys have built, and I've also seen the step down for the chopsaw. Both really nice ideas for a table. My big table had outlets on it at one point. They are also quite useful.

I haven't seen the air tool hookup before though. I like that and the short hoses for bench work. I've used plenty of splitters, but this is the 1st one I've seen built into the table.

Thanks! Yep, most of those items I found when researching other tables on this site and the rest of the web. I have a small shop so I needed to pack the features I wanted into a small mobile table. I had one comment on Youtube that said it was like the Swiss Army knife of welding tables just missing the corkscrew!

After using the table for awhile now the only thing I would change is adding is some 5/8" holes to the top for clamping options. I am going to drill those hopefully in a few weeks.

Love what you did with your table. Think I'll be borrowing some of your ideas to add to mine.

...While I like the vise hard mounted, I'm truly considering moving it to a receiver hitch type mount.

I built it simple so that I could add on to it later. Next up will be an adjustable extension for longer material and a chop saw mount like the one on Duker's tables.

Josh, borrow away, that's how I found the ideas for my table. As for this vise, I decided to hard mount mine as I used to have a vice in a hitch mount but over time it developed some play and it drove me nuts for some reason. The vise is actually what inspired me to finally build the table as I needed someplace to mount it. However, recently I acquired a large Reed vice on a giant metal stand that it can use if I need to really beat the living day lights out of something so I might take off the Rock Island vice leaving the top clear.

Thanks John, my neighbor threatens to wheel it over to his house and claim possession is 9/10ths the law. After building the table my wife said that with it out in the driveway aren't you concerned about someone seeing it and stealing it? What if you come home and they are loading it on a truck what would you do... I replied honey if I drive up and someone is lifting that table into a truck I am putting the car into reverse and driving away like we found the wrong house. I don't want to meet up face to face with someone who can lift that table!

Picking up the final pieces of tube for mine tomorrow. For those who have an opinion would doing 4x5/8" adjustable gap slats or a 1/2"solid top be better. My table will be 32"x48".

Awesome. I love the build pro tables. This is a great thread as well. This is my first post in this forum - I will post an introduction this evening. I also plan on posting pics of my table as it nears completion.

I am wondering if I could ask a favor of you - could you please post some dimensions for the table top sections for your Buildpro? I am interested in the spacing between the 5/8" diameter holes in each plate as well as the locations of the mounting holes that hold the plates to the rails. My plan is to buy the build pro table top sections, and mount them to a frame of my own design and construction, so it would be helpful to have a few measurements.

You should be able to figure out the rest. Good luck matching the BuildPro specs, the table flatness spec ain't going to be easy for the average DIYer. Take a good look at the BuildPro website pictures and the optional fixture examples, you should be able to infer the mounting hole location/pattern. Accuracy and time costs money.

The spacing for the mounts for the plates is 10" center to center. the 2 mounting bolts are 2" center to center

I'd really consider how you are planning on using the buildpro tables. If you are looking at them as an option for precise manufacturing, I'd keep looking. I have experience with their tooling and have looked at their table for the last 3 years while it is on display and for sale at the IMS in Phoenix. I would classify their tables as hobbiest level. Their HD clamps for the Acorn tables are bomb proof. loved them.

doh. this is at IMS - Phx. That guide stop is so cheezy I want it on my hotdog.



these riser blocks are not durable but for only $175, what can you expect. The slats of the welding tables are made in the same manner as these blocks = hobbiest.

Some great tables guys! I'm finally getting started on mine. I got the framework welded out last night and I'm ready for casters and some bracing for the lower shelf. I plan to do a chop saw mount like Duker did as well. Final height will be 42".

The table framework feels very solid as it is, do you see any reason to gusset the corners?

How thick of a top? What kind of work are you doing on it? What are the dimensions and thicknesses of the structure?

4'x8'x1/2" steel plate top. Framework is 3'x7' and will be 42" to the top. Frame is all 2x2x1/8" tubing, legs will get 6" steel casters. I'll mainly be doing light fab work, cutting, assembly, yada yada yada...

I'd, personally, drop two vertical supports all the way to the floor (6 legs now) into the middle of the long spans and call it good.

If it was going to be stationary I would consdier center legs, but since it will be moved around the shop, I don't want any more casters at this point. That is just too many points of contact to try to keep on the ground. The frame is within 1/32" of square in all directions at this point and sits rock solid on the floor. Hopefully it will behave the same with the casters in place.
