Ok, I'm getting ready to build a 4x8 table and surfing through the various table builds using the forum search function kinda sucks. I'm guessing there are a lot of guys in the same boat...
So.... lets have a welding table pic thread! No step by step builds necessary, just show off the final product you have come up with. If you have a build thread somewhere on the forum, post up a link with your pic.

I'm in the same boat, just not as big. I like the idea of one condensed thread as it seams everyone is starting single threads for the same project with a different twist.
I have no pics but mine is going to be 3'x4' with a slat top out of 4"x.625" flat bar as my metal supplier has about 20 cutoffs he I'd giving my a deal on as he has little use for the in 3' lengths.

Welding helps me build my hobbies and takes up time on the side.
this bench has been going strong for 25+ years. it started as a medium duty work table and i added a 2x2 & 4" tubing frame to the top to support a 5/8" plate. used more 2x2 to re-enforce the legs. it's pinned to the floor.
Here is my artistic table with receiver pockets all the way around. And I made a way of moving as you see down below with the wheels.
And another vise I added to it.

Mine's 1 1/2" thick 3' x 12'. I need to attach the receiver on the far end one day. It's certainly solid when you need to work on things in the vise, and a wonderful thing to beat things on.

All these wimpy topped tables. Mine's 1 1/2" thick 3' x 12'. I need to attach the receiver on the far end one day. It's certainly solid when you need to work on things in the vise, and a wonderful thing to beat things on.
Maybe you can find a big vise someday...

Why such a small table? Mines 8' X 10' X 1.5 thick.
It's a 5X Parker. I've seen bigger. I'd like to get a real nice 6" or 8" post vise so I don't have to beat on this one at all. When my friend and old boss passed away, his wife asked if there was anything from the business I was interested in having. I got 1st dibs since I'd worked for him the longest and was his friend. 1st thing I said was I wanted the vise and the table. When the scrap guy came to haul off a lot of old scrap steel, he was just drooling over the table. He must have asked 5 or 6 times if she wanted to get rid of the table, I guess hoping she'd change her mind or forget. I've had any number of other guys he knew say they want the table as well.

When we moved the table to that position initially, it was so heavy the 941 track loader could barely lift it without tipping. We ended up piling a lot of solid block on the back of the loader and I was hanging off the ROPs as a counter weight so we could move it from where it was to that spot. Trying to lift it with the backhoe was a joke, All we did was crush the front tires and the table never moved. Getting it inside the shop where we wanted it was on the on the "to do" list, but 1st we needed to get a decent floor poured. We thought about moving it inside while the 988 loader was there, but once we moved it straight in, we wouldn't have been able to turn the machine to get it where we wanted, and getting it back out to pour the floor later would have been a pain.
It still sits outside up at his old shop. I rent out some space up there for storage. If I ever have to move for some reason, I'm not sure where that table will go other than in the side yard of my house. It's too big and heavy to go in the current garage. Door opening is only 6'6" and the floor has major cracks and is hollow under some areas. I'd have to rebuild the whole garage ( on the "around to" list) to be able to get it inside. It will probably cost me as much to move the table as it would to just build a new one, less the vise.

Table was originally longer and wider, but someone cut it down at some point. I think when it was originally sold at auction, they cut it down from a bigger table and sold either 2 or 4 tables. I wasn't there when he got it originally.

The red legged one was given to me from Walker. I added a 1/4" top (had an 1/8" originally), put expanded metal under the top for a shelf. Works pretty good.
And this one is my little portable one.
With the new move, I lost my 3 car garage. In AZ a person needs to keep the vehicles inside, so no big welding table for me. (No mill or lathe either )
It's been brought to my attention that I may have offended someone with my "wimpy" table top comment. Sorry I though I'd put the laugh smiley in the original post showing it was all just for fun. I'll add it to my original post.
To any members who have anxiety issues brought upon by feelings of social inadequacy due to a small or undersized table top, I apologize. They say size doesn't matter. I have heard they have a solution for that now...

My welding table isn't much to talk about. When I retired and had my shop built. I built my welding table, and burning table out of scrap that was laying around. All except the welding table top. A buddy of mine was running a job locally, I called him up and said hey next time you're in the yard grab a plate 3/4 to 1-inch thick. Not wanting to drive to the big city to the yard he just ran down to the steel supplier and bought me one, and brought it to me.

still haven't bought the top I want for it. I placed the bottom channels closer together for a chair to tig weld.
I REALLY LIKE your extendable receiver attachments. this is something I'm looking into when I get around to build my welding cart and table. thank you for the inspiration.
