It was very pricey, I gave almost 18k for the table and all the accessories plus shipping. But I work alone and having this table saves me a ton of hrs on each job. The precision and versatility is unreal. It’s definitely paid for itself. I’m very particular with my tools so this should last me a lifetime no problem.

    Looks like a Seigmund?

I was absolutely super impressed with the Seigmund tables at a machinery show I went to a few weeks back. Made of tool steel, and that lovely hard nitriding finish.
the lady on the stand had an 18" long bit of 2"x2" solid mild steel bar in her hands. "Watch this" and smacked the edge of the table with all her might. Put a nice dent in the bar, but didn't even mark the nitrided surface of the table.
"Can I have a go please?"
    "Sure"
So I took the bar and whacked that table edge with as much force as I could give it... Nope. Not a mark on it. The steel bar was pretty beat up and chipped though.

Now I understand why they cost so much, and why they are worth it.
I can imagine how well it would last even with daily use and mig welding BBs grinding around on it.

A Seigmund table is something I aspire to. Maybe in a year or two's time. I'll make do with my DIY jig table for now.

Ah, go ahead and do it now. Wait a year or two, and you'll regret not having had it for the last 2 years...

As I've said in a couple other threads, every bit of Bluco quality at not Bluco price. If you aren't working with super large stuff, the system 16 is a much less offensive price, and no less quality. I'm in for a bit under $7k for two of the 3x4' system 16 tables bolted together to make a 4x6. Although, I think current pricing on that same setup would have me a little over $9k. Regardless, the 'baby' system 16 has all 1/2" plate construction, and with the grid bottom, that's still pretty stout.

I had a 28mm 1500x3000mm (approx 5’x10’) that I imported from China. The quality was meh I’d give it a 9 out of 10. I had it for a year and then Seigmund came out with the imperial series tables and they were heavily discounted, so I sold the Chinese crap and got this table. To be honest the 28 series is overkill for hobbyist or someone doing lighter duty work. I could've easily gotten by with the 16 series setup. I would’ve never gotten the Chinese table, but at the time they were 50-70% cheaper than Bluco or Siegmund. I couldn’t afford Siegmund until they went on sale.

Yeah, that's when I got the ones I have, too. I always liked the idea of the tables, but metric was a big hold up. When they came out with the inch version, and put the 3x4' tables on sale for $2k each plus freight with an accessory set included, I couldn't afford to not have them. I've since added another $2500 in accessories piece meal, but it's the bees knees for sure.

The tooling is probably a good chunk of that price. You should see what prices machinists pay for there machines for engine work

Just finished my table build so I thought I'd add to the thread. It has a bow in it, so I need to figure that out, but glad to have it (mostly) done.

Top looks ok, but those bottom supports have a nasty bend in them! All joking aside, that's a nice design... great job.

    Re: Welding table picture thread

My welding is done in my garage or driveway, so it needs to be compact when not in use. Started with one cart, but that was very inefficient so I built a second one. One cart can get dirty -- vice, angle grinders, drill press, band saw, bending brake, arbor press, and belt sander. This one has a removable aluminum dust tray I welded from two commercial baking sheets and racks to hold clamps, angle grinders, and the power cord. The power cord has a splitter so I have one 220V 50A outlet for the welder and two 110V 20A circuits for power tools.

The second cart is set up for TIG welding. It has supports for the toolbox and a rack to store the filler rods. Magnets stay clean and top stays clear for fitting up pieces to weld.

I built the first cart when I knew hardly anything about welding two years ago. It is all MIG and not very pretty MIG either. The second cart I just finished and is all TIG welded. TIG took way longer starting with cleaning the metal and dragging a foot pedal around to weld in every position.

I'm hoping someone remembers and/or possibly saved a pic of the table I really want to build. I've been using my uneven, thin metal table for a while now and want to upgrade to something more substantial.

There used to be some pics in this thread I believe of a table that had slats for the top, the slats had bolts welded to the backside so they could be individually raised or lowered, and a chain ran the perimeter of table-top to raise or lower the table legs. Anyone remember this build? I looked through this thread and couldn't find it, also used the searched function.

P.S. After looking through this thread you all have me searching ebay for a better bench vise. I bought a cheaper/budget bench vise and I hate it. The swivel screw doesn't tighten properly so I can turn the vise even though it's supposed to be basically locked in place. Looked at hundreds of bench vises, now I have a bench vise acquisition syndrome I have a few on my watch list now, all of them "vintage." I really want to find something like these robust vises I've seen in this thread though

I like it. Your shop has a good "vibe" to it.

I haven't put a floor in part of my shop, and I'm about to add another space onto the back of the shop. I was thinking of doing something similar to what you did when I get the addition done. I was planning on a concrete footing for the anvil stump and stuff like that, though.
