    What did I get?

Recently bought a table of "welding stuff" at auction. Most is stuff I can use, which is why I got it. Some has me stumped. Hopefully, the collective experience here can help me out.

Apparently torch related is a brass-looking cone shaped part labeled
    National Welding
    13102074

    Something corroded looking labeled
    National
    Mixer
    50-MA
    52-MA
    PAT 1882420
which seems permanently attached to a tip labeled
    National
    G-1
    PAT 1958085

I also ended up with Harris Stay-Silv 15 silver bronze alloy and some copper braze labeled 101 Ag Alloy. Are either of these useable with a propane torch (no oxy)?

    Will 1016-D2, 11018M, 6012, or 3081-16 work with AC?

Is there an easy way to identify mystery rod? It's about 4mm thick (rod, not flux) and old and grey. It probably got damp at some point. There is no readable stamp on the rod anymore.

Thanks in advance for what help you can provide.

Don't sound like you got much of a bargain.
You had better not of given much for those welding rods.
If they are not sealed, but damp and crumbly, they are worthless.
Can you get some pics up.
    Than we can appraise them.

    Tips and chipping hammers

Sorry it took so long to post the pics. The 6013 and nickel both seemed to arc nicely when I tried them the other day. The lot came with two fixed hoods, too (not that I needed them, but who's complaining). The red packs are mostly 6013.

Those 10016 rod should be 100,000 psi tensile, all position, i dont think its a high deposition but is used for thick steel.
Should work on AC or DCEP.
I would use them like a hard facing rod.

Some HVAC guys use the stay-silv 15.

That stay silv in todays market is about $3.00 per stick. It was a buck a stick in the old days and then around $50 a pound. There are 26 sticks to the pound. How much did you spend ? If not too nosy.

$58 for the lot, included fixed helmet, another without headgear, some scrap metal, 2-3 chipping hammers, and the lot in the pictures. Ideally, someone local can make use of the torch tips and whatever else that stuff is. Might try to sell the stay silv to one of the local hvac companies if no one here wants it.

    You did ok.
    That wasn't a bad buy....
Try and salvage some of those stick rods.

    Re: What did I get?

You did fine, the Stay-Silv and the Nickel cast iron rod are worth that by themselves. The torch tips in the first pic in post # 6 look like they fit the mixing chamber in post #4. Now to find a handle that fits them...

The steel electrodes (8010 and 10016) look like obsolete junk. Scrap them.

The rods in the Eutectic boxes may be worth something. Any numbers on them?

The greenish rods and possibly the orange ones are likely flux coated brazing rods they are still useable but you might want to dry them and use additional flux.---Meltedmetal

I got a handful of that stay-silver from the fitters at work, can they be used for tig welding? And what would be the best use for them? I thought about trying cast iron with them.

They are silver hard solder, used for soldering copper pipe fittings in high pressure applications like AC refrigerant lines. They will work on steel if you set the joint up for brazing and use the right flux. Not sure they would be very useful on cast.
