Re: Tig Clinic Date and Time...
I just ran across one of these pics on my hard drive, so I thought it might be fun to resurrect this post. Its a shame that half the guys who were there that day really don't post on this board anymore for whatever reason. I miss Al (Drf255), Mike (Heartdoc), Ari (Akatz), and the other Mike (weldermike). Hard to believe this was seven years ago already. I am sure that shop is long gone except for the machines Zap got to keep.

It was for a 1957 392 Chrysler hemi , out of an Imperial,, we oxy-acetylene welded the manifold bolted right on the engine.
It was a kit from JC Whitney,, a box of flanges, and short pieces of what looked like exhaust pipe,, all steel.
That intake kit cost $35.
The intake was for six 2-barrel carbs,, and it looked GREAT,,
the engine performed about the same as a big 4 barrel,, but,, WOW,, did it look cool.
The engine was in a '59 Plymouth,, after assembling the intake, and bolting on the carbs,,
we took the car for a test drive ,, it ran,,,
THEN we came back to the shop, and bolted the hood to the hinges,,
the hood would not close,,
We made two "C" shaped cuts in the hood, and bent up the hood the bent parts of the hood looked like butterfly wings.
Well, the three of us cruised that Plymouth on MANY Friday nights,,
NO ONE would race us,, everyone thought that the carbs sticking out of the hood was Hilborn Fuel Injection!!
One guy stopped at a Chrysler dealer and bought the chrome piece that said "HEMI" ,, we had those stuck on the fender also.
Those trim pieces were in stock a car dealer back then,,
Try to find anything in stock these days,,
Also, the pics reminds me of USN TIG welding class back in 1971,, I think we TIG welded for one week,, IIRC,,

Tig clinic 2021 would also be cool just for the fact that zap now owns an HTP221
Between him and smart Dave I’m sure they have all the bells and whistle‘s figured out.

Re: Tig Clinic Date and Time...
I am still waiting to hear if Zap has changed his opinion on the utility or value of pulse.
I don't know if he has the space for a TIG clinic anymore now that the old shop closed down.

We will all stand out in the driveway,, next to the grill,, while the welding is going on in the garage,,,

Those were some good times right there. And, yes, it's hard to believe it was 7 years ago. I haven't had any real seat time in a while. I do have some projects lined up though. Maybe this will be the spark that gets me going

THAT is a lucky kid! You have always been generous with your time and talent Zap. Good on you! PS, how do you like the pulse function on your new welder?
