If you have an ohm meter then this should help.:
or the dial that speeds up the wire???? sorry im not to familiar with all these terms yet
If you have an ohm meter then this should help.:
thats the same one i watched earlier..... i have a multi tester with a auto ohm setting and i used that,,,, it was hard to tell ... there was times it read normal and others it read O.L.... gonna use my buddys ohm tester..... let ya know how it goes

if that is it... i wonder where i can get a new one cheap...
k... just tested it... and it seems fine .... but every so often it acts up ... the feed motor goes faster on its own.... would you recommend replacing the POTENTIOMETER anyways ?????
Usually they have a number on them like 2k2 or 10k, if you can see them we can go from there.
its a ... 50K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer
Pots are a common part, the way the output pins are, the size of the mount hole needed and the shaft type and length are the variables.:http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Compon...yzvm30Z1yzxs44
Ok update for u all that have been helping me out... Just wanna give a shout out to Bluewelders for the big help he's been....
I replaced the " POT" as every one calls it with a new one I got from Mississippi Welders supply today .. And I can say that must of been it.... I tried for a couple minutes to see if it would act up again and it has not.... I'll try welding with it after I get back from my camping trip for the fourth...
Hope everyone has a safe Fourth of July weekend and thanks again for all your help..!!!!!!!

Alright after welding with it for a while now... I come to the conclusion it was the pot after all.... Ever since I replaced it I had no issues since....

Thanks for reporting back. It's always nice to hear the outcome, especially a successful repair.
alright it seems as thou im having issues again.... this time with the voltage ..... its all over the place... k heres the situation.... im welding on my trailer im building... so far ive been using the same thick material from the start.... i believe it 3/16 ... anyways sometimes id weld on it in #3 mode then next piece would be same then all of a sudden seem like the voltage was to high.. so i drop it down to #2 .. lil while later have to put it back to 3.... now i started out in # 2 position and it acted like voltage was to high again.... so i drop it down to # 1 and that even seems to high ...... WTF..... excuse the french.... but whats going on with this thing ???? any clue ?????
If your torch liner is getting old, bending the lead will cause the wire to slow down in proportion to how sharply it is kinked.
Sort of a common problem and easy to check.
liner is good..ive already checked it... how often they gotta be replaced....?????
the welds im laying are all pitted like the voltage is to high,.... could that be the q1 component acting up?????
well i broke down and bought a new liner... during replacement of it... i noticed there was like a grease /oil residue towards the trigger end... must of been from the gel ive been using to help with the tip getting clogged.... didnt really notice any thing wrong with the old one other than the grease..... but i got the new one installed and works fine again.... lol... just shrugging my shoulders ... dumbfounded...
Takes just a few inches of dirty wire to mess up a liner.
An old guy I knew would put WD-40,or diesel into his liner a few times, and blow it out with compressed air to clean it.
Seemed to work for him, never tried it myself.
ok its acting up again... i just replaced the Q1 resistor ... and i also replaced the pot not to long ago either... and the liner in the gun.... ..... this thing is all over the board.... im using shielding gas with .35 wire.... very seldom will i get a good weld to form..... can i ask a stupid Q? if i may... since i replaced the pod... and now the Q1 resistor .... and the gun liner..... what else could it be ?????
Q1 resistor ????? I believe Q1 should be a 2N6388 Darlington Transistor .
Yes I did

This is what my welds always turn out to look like no matter what I do.. Very seldom they look good .... Full of holes.. Like its to hot

Using .030 wire and shielding gas ... Setting is on 30 and 3

Did you grind the rust, scale and paint off, down to bare shiny metal ?
