    17 series TIG torch

I was wondering if anyone has had an experience regarding the Weldcraft 17 series flex head compared to the knockoff versions.

Is it worth the money to buy the name brand?

Who do you consider a knockoff? CK is generally considered superior.

Weldcraft silicon is crap compared to CK's rubber flex heads. I only know because I burned up quite a few so far trying to find one that holds up.

Chinese like weldcity or others. Duty cycle shouldn't be a problem.

I have a weldcraft 17 valve, with the flexhead. 25'....
I've really abused it, and it still is holding up...

Buy the cheap version. All the consumables are the same. Weld city sells the wp17 flex head with valve and 25' hose and sheath for like $70. I run the same setup on my scratch start rig and have had no problems at all!

I have a weldcraft 150, same as a 17 non flex head and was looking to get a flex head. Weld city looked to be less than half the price.

I love my $12 china 17 flex head. But the ck ones are nice too. Not worth the money IMO.

    Re: 17 series TIG torch

I broke a couple weldcraft flexheads, also burned a few up. Seem to have better luck with the non flex, maybe its just me though. My next torch will be a CK with superflex hoses.

You can get a CK 17F from HTP/usaweld pretty cheap in several configurations.

That's what I have. It was really cheap and it had the everything I needed to connected it to my Everlast TIG unit. I would recommended it. I would not recommend the Everlast unit.

    Re: 17 series TIG torch

Thanks for the replies. A while back I bought a whole bunch of TIG stuff but none of it was for a gas valve. I ordered a weldcity flexible head to go on a cable and handle that I had so I am getting by pretty cheap.

Try weldingsupply.com, they have great prices on name brand stuff. I used to order from them online, now I try to make it to their store whenever I can. I deal with Jim there, and he is a top notch guy.
