New to this forum looking to fix my lotos plasma cutter.

I learned iron work at high school... I am a person prone to repair anything, and work on anything. I am an M.D. surgeon, acupuncturist and researcher on cancer and AIDS using electro-therapy on my patients, plus ozone, diet and several other ways to cure and control those diseases. In my spare time I like to fix cars, build swimming pools, repair and sell PC's and weld Mig Arc and cut metal. Since my using of a metal plasma cutter (I though) was limited to sporadic use I bought a Lotos plasma cutter... What deception, after a few metal cuts, this machine caught fire and found a short from the cable feeding the machine to the coil that sends the voltage for cutting... result I have a 400 machine unusable... and I am planning to fix it testing every component...

Cut your losses next time around and purchase a quality machine. If the price of a name brand plasma cutter is too high for infrequent usage, try going with a good quality Oxy/Acet outfit or nibbler/shear. It isn't that Asian sourced plasma cutters and welders are so low quality as it is the importers are only looking at price at the expense of quality.

Seconding the advice of WyoRoy, cheap tools are often the most expensive to use and maintain.
