    Milwaukee portable, home brew base

Here are a few quick shots of the base I built for my portable bandsaw (for T E B). At the time I had already invested quite a few nickles in the porta band so I didn't feel justified getting a floor model bandsaw. Had some scrap so I put this together and still run it today. It swaps back and forth easy enough. One allen wrench, take it loose from the single mounting hole, screw the handle (knob) back on and it's portable again.

One of these days I'll get a real band saw though. One of these days......

In hind site I wouldn't do it again. Great base but a lot of work on the alignment. The small diameter blades take a beating.

I've since added dodas for ease of cutting and for oddities.

The first pic is how it clamps for straight cuts. This particular piece is a small chunk of 1&1/4 square tubing but I can cut anything I can lift onto it with the use of infeed and outfeed stands.

The second pics is a jig I made for cutting angles. The one problem is that I can't cut anything that sticks through. I have to cut to length fisrt then cut the angle. Makes it impossible to share ends on 45° angles.

Appreciate the thought. I'm gonna hold out for a big ole banana split tho .. I'm always looking at regular bandsaws but my biggest problem right now is floor space. That problem is caused by me not wanting to clear out things I don't need or use, storing steel inside and a lot of other house keeping issues . I think they call that "priorities".

That is a very clever design!
The Millwaukee bandsaw base costs a small fortune. I like yours better.
