    The new girl!

Hi there! My name's Brianna and I'm from Texas. I just learned how to weld a few months ago. My dad, my sister and I all took an adult education class at the local high school to learn oxy-acetylene cutting and stick welding. It was just a 3 day class - we did cutting on day 1 and then we were welding on days 2 and 3. My sister and I took the class because we wanted to learn how to weld so we could make art sculptures. I've always wanted to participate in an art show/festival and we both have a knack for welding. (We also both studied art in college, so we have the patience for detail!) :]

I created a Kickstarter project to try to raise money to buy a welding machine of my own to be able to create art sculptures and creatures to take to shows and festivals. If you want to check it out the url is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...tures-and-more

On that site, there's a little more explanation and a video I made so you can get a glimpse of who I am and how excited I am to get my own equipment and get started!

    I can't wait to be a legitimate welder! :]
(And thanks in advance if you can help me out at all!!)

I will! I do have a question for those of you that also make art: where do you get your metal materials from?

I have a friend at an industrial scrap yard. I trade my sculptures with him for (stainless) scrap. I also frequent estate sales, and bulk buy old tools for upcycled metal sculpture. And once you're established, you may find that friends and family will bring you interesting metal "stuff".

Best place to get art metal is the junk yard

    In my opinion

    "...oxy-acetylene cutting and stick welding...."

That's an excellent start. Leave the miggy-tiggy stuff until later.
