Google sketchup is a free 3D CAD program, idk if you can export into dxf, but I would bet that there is a converter floating around on the web

 

I've been using Design Edge for a few years now and find it fairly easy to use. What are you trying to do or having problems with? Feel free to pm or email me if you want. I'd be happy to try and help you out. I don't believe you can run the table with any other software.

 

Basically the cd keeps telling me I have to buy another copy or "seat" in order to run it on my laptop. The computer i got with the used goplasma (plasmacam rebranded) doesn't work.

So plasma cam basically tells me they want $xxxx (yes 4 digits) for additional "seats".

Screw a huge pile of that.

 

Did you buy it or just download the demo?

You don't have to run a PlasmaCam with DesignEdge. I think they may still sell the basic version 3.11 like I use. Good enough to import graphics and edit.

 

You should be able to still download the free 3.11 software, as was mentioned. However, have you called PlasmaCAM directly to discuss this? I would assume that they could de-activate the seat that is in your old (not working) computer and free you up to run that seat on a new computer.

When I bought my DHC2 used, I called PCam and they gave me a form to have ownership changed - which updated their records, and allowed me access to their online support community. Judging by your post, it doesn't sound like you have obtained access to the online support forum (which is also where you download software and order parts). You might want to look into that.

I switched computers when I was first setting up as well. I emailed them and explained what happened and they sent me a reset or free 3.11 to install again.

 

Help! I have the basic version of PlasmaCam software and am looking for a manual or some type of information for running the software. Is there such a thing? Thanks!

 

Plasmacam will send you a video manual. Log onto their site using your machines serial number as your password, go to the products stuff, and order a free manual. I think they might send you a care package when you first sign up too.
