    Snow Roof Rake. Home made.

The average weight of a cubic foot of snow is 15 Lbs./Cu. Foot. So a 20' x 20' roof will have approx 6000lbs on it if there is a foot of snow. We have more than a foot of snow. I made a roof rake to remove the snow from the roof. Here it is. I remove the snow by standing on the flat bed of my truck on the front side of the house.

I would add axles on each side, small washers as wheels so the bottom isn't dragging on the roofing shingles. Clearance of 1/8" should be good enough.

I was just talking about that today about adding wheels. It is on my list to do. Right now there is enough hard frozen coating that is about 1/8" thick or so. This coating right now prevents it from diggging into the shingles or knocking them loose.
    thanks.

What keeps this from digging under the shingles?

Looks like there are skis on each side that keep the cutting edge about a 1/2" up from the surface.
