Hi all,
I purchased a Uniweld MC-71 torch today and after swapping out an empty bottle it turns out I have a pretty good leak around the regulator.
Does anybody sell a repair kit for these things? I took the regulator apart and there's just a diaphragm and spring in there but the rubber is rock solid. It's kind of hard to determine where the problem is seeing that Acetylene is both expensive and dangerous but I think it is the diaphragm.
I'm happy with it other than it not working. It came with 11 tips I can use plus a Smiths tip which doesn't seem to fit. Even got some silver solder and lots of what I believe is brazing rod.
Thanks, Steve

Hi again,
I have gone through everything and it seems that the acetylene bottle is damaged. There is a dent in the thread and cone which I believe is preventing a good seal to the regulator.
I am still interested in learning where to get parts for this thing as I intend to keep it for life. It really looks a lot like a prestolite set-up with single gauge from my research. The more recent Uniweld's have double gauges?

you can just exchange the bottle at any lws and pay for a filled bottle, they may charge a few bucks if the threads are bad....
