I found a Ranger 8 with 51 hours on it. It is powered by a 20 hp. Kohler engine. New fuel pump, Carb kit and just been serviced. Its on a small trailer suitable for short distance on road or farm use. Has 50 feet of cable each side.
2000.00 for it vs new 225 Ranger at about 3500.00 with no cables.
2000.00 sounds better than 3500.00 and still need 400.00 worth of cables. But which is the better machine? Ranger code is U10006 indicating it was made in Cleveland USA in June of 2000 if I understand the code right.
Were the windings in a Ranger 8 in 2000 copper or aluminum?
Are they copper or aluminum now? Which is best copper or aluminum?

I'd go with the ranger 8.
I love mine.

Mine has 2,000 and odd hours, and starts right up with a little choke every time.

Copper is best.. Think of all the vibrations that go on in a engine drive. Don't think I would want a generator with a Aluminum winding either..

Now if you could wait a bit, I am sure Zero tool will have another 30 % off soon.. It would put a new Ranger at $2878.00

I didn't think aluminum would be any good for windings. I was trying to figure out how the new engine drive welders are so much lighter. Thought maybe they had switched to aluminum in the windings. Anytime they say lighter I always suspect cheaper and easier broken. LOL
