$#&@ Longevity....Now the proud owner of a Lincoln!

After finally getting my Longevity Migweld 140 replaced, there was some major issues 1st)it came already messed up with a broken (non-adjusting) wire feed knob. 2nd) There was a substantial amount of water inside the plastic that the welder itself was wrapped in!! God only knows how long that poor little machine was in there lol? 3rd) The positive and the negative inside the machine were reversed! I don't know how that made it past the "factory testing" 4th) The welder still sparked and flipped out if it touched anything the ground clamp was on. This was the original problem!!!! This is FOUR factory mistakes all of which on their own would be justifiable reasons to replace a welder. After taking another trip to Home Depot and taking 45 minutes to get a refund for the welder I decided enough with these longevity issues and refused to risk it happening again. I took my 350 dollars store credit walked to the welding section and forked out the extra $217 for a Lincoln 140 Mig, and GOOD GOD IT IS AMAZING! I only had time to run some flux core through it, but it welded great. Barely any spatter, very few sparks for flux core, and very smooth. If you cannot already tell, I am absolutely done with longevity and fully sold on the higher priced Lincoln and possibly Miller, though I have never used one. As much as I love this welder already, I was wondering if anybody else had experience with the Lincoln Weld Pak 140 HD and if there is anything I should know about the machine?

I know of two members here who have gone through three Longevity Stickweld 250s. All three machines just progressively lost power. Longevity replaced two of the machines, when one of the replacements machines did the same thing, the owner just pushed it aside and bought a Everlast PowerArc 300.

Wouldn't that be an "out of the frying pan and into the fire" kind deal?

Oh I don’t know. I’ve had my PowerArc 200 for 5-years now, hasn’t given me an ounce of trouble. Had my PowerArc 300 for a year now, same thing, both never miss a beat!

I ran one of the Stickweld 250s, very nice arc with 7018. Just don’t understand why they lose power. Don’t hold me to this, but seems as the one member told me he was up to 180-amps just to get 1/8-inch 7018 to run. Personally I didn’t think a SMAW only machines were that complicated to make. I thought they were right there with battery chargers.

No secrets to them. The small rolls of wire tend to need more attention with spool tension though- but that's the size of the spool, not the machine.
If you go to solid wire and shielding gas might want to look into the spool adapter to run the bigger spool.

Re: $#&@ Longevity....Now the proud owner of a Lincoln!

Congratulations on the new machine. Nothing worse than spending good money on bad tools. The high price of low price. Buying twice is never good but it's fortunate that you discovered it early enough to apply a credit. Most of the time you don't discover how bad the purchase was until after it's too late. One time I bought a mess of cheap clamps. Figured a clamp is a clamp... how could anyone mess up a clamp, I thought. I have since discarded every single one of those soft pieces of junk. I will never waste my money on a cheap clamp (or tool for that matter) again. Lesson learned.

I miss my old male cat that we got from a little kid outside Walmart years ago. Long hair, slender, was 3 feet long from toe to toe when he stretched. Fastest cat I've ever seen, and he was seen running back and forth under a car traveling at maybe 25. We now have squirrels in the yard but we never did before. Only squirrel tails and heads back then. And little piles of intestines on the carpet.
