Useful Solutions for Standard Problems - Mike Ashby.

Sections 9 and 10, respectively, list formulae for stress concentrations and sharp cracks.

That's a good one. I'm saving it in my Google drive along with everything else. I wonder everyone is doing the same....

A visual journey into the Ni superalloys of turbine blades. From milli to micro to nanometers and finally to atoms. Incredible visual works.

Swiss leader TRUMPF shows the laser metal deposition practices on an assembly. Their high-powerd, N2 cooled CO2 and Ar-shielded CW/Pulsed fiber lasers are on the leading edge of additive manufacturing. Creating, buildin up, and repairing using powdered Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Ti, and other elements are making waves in industry.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

Interesting to note/infer how the rescue tool manufacturers (Hurst, Holmatro) are pulsing the increase us of these high-performance steels, to ensure their jaws of life can safely attack components (A/B pillars, longitudinal side members, etc) during extrications.

Recent thread, centering on the pros/cons of various MWFs (metal working fluids), prompted insight between Vegetable and Mineral-based MWFs.

BLUF of the paper: "The results indicate that as straight oils, all vegetable based stocks, and the vegetable based ester, perform significantly better than the mineral oils."
