    Hi From Melbourne, Australia

Hi all, I've been welding for about 5 years for a living, mostly MIG but some stick and very little TIG. Looking to get a TIG machine for home though as I need to weld some stainless fittings for my home brew beer gear. See you round on the forum

Not too many snakes in Melbourne but when I lived in Sydney they were fairly abundant

No, I moved from Sydney to Perth then to Melbourne. If I hadn't moved to Perth I would never have shifted to Melbourne from Sydney

If ya local, you can come and have a blast. I live in Melbourne west, just behind Calder Park Raceway off the Calder Highway.

I'm in Knoxfield. It's a bit of a haul but I will be needing to weld some stainless fittings into some 50 litre kegs soon for my home brew rig so I might keen to make the trip!

    Cheers

Never done sanitary welds on SS before. Don't want to practice on your stuff, but your welcome to come and do it yourself. I have a extra Argon cylinder and reg for purging.

Mate, sounds good. The fittings only need to be water tight as I won't be fermenting in any of these vessels. They are only used for heating water, mashing grain, and then boiling beer wort in (I brew the traditional way, with grain malts). Beer can't get infected from these processes so no sanitary welding needed. Just as long as no water leaks out it's all good. I need to go to Geordi in Cheltenham for the fittings so I might go and see them soon. I need to have stainless camlocks etc. At the moment I'm using weldless brass fittings, crap....

    Hi there and welcome.

I am working for an Austrailian company. You may have heard of Worley Parsons. They are into energy and we do contract engineering work for Exxon.

The Aussies are very generous people. They brought me to Houston on a 6 month consulting project and put me in a paid for furnished luxury apartment and gave me $315 a week for food - all tax free. The hourly pay rate was 2.5 times higher than any I have ever earned in my entire 30 year career. And, they are great people to work with.

The downside is that I will be unemployed again in 3 more days. But the upside is they may call me back for other projects. They are all over the planet now.
