We have a television that turns on every time we have a power interruption, does that count?

Never heard of it. I have heard of people having fans and TVs go on and off from neighbor's remotes though. And certain wifi signals will activate PLC or RF switches. Whenever I would use Apple Airport Express to stream music to my stereo one of my X-10 controlled lights would turn on.

We stayed at a hotel in Santa Fe last week, a suite with two rooms and two identical flat screen TVs. It was tricky to turn one off with the remote without turning the other one on at the same time.

I stayed at a Knight's Inn in the middle of winter in Ohio one time. Apparently it had motion-activated HVAC. When I fell asleep, the heat shut off. When I woke up shivering, it came back on.

    Re: Power surge?

Reminds me of my last night at the Best Western in Pampa, Texas. I used to stay there one or two nights per month for work. They 'upgraded' their heating/AC units to some sort of GE high efficiency unit or something. That thing would go through an on/off cycle 12 times per minute, I timed it. I finally changed rooms, and the heater in the new room did the same thing. What a miserable night! And, it was the last night I ever stayed there!

My old computer had Windows XP and dialup installed. If I shut it down for the night I had to disconnect the phone line, otherwise if the phone rang it would start back up.

My truck radio changed frequency from a station to static recently a couple times.

    Re: Power surge?

Happened to a friend in TN.

Woke up to his coffee grinder on and then his water pic. Said when he unplugged the water pic sparks happened. Called the PoCo and they said a transformer went bad and he received over voltage.

I've never heard of it happening before either.
