Hello. I have been looking for a welder generator here in ontario. I have found a trailblazer 302D for $3500 (2500usd) . It looks in good shape and comes with a trailer, but it has 2300 hours on it. Do you think that is to many for the price. Thanks Isaac

I would look at the overall condition of the machine I have run welders with 9,000 to 15,000 hours on them that work like new and I have run machines that had 700 hours on them and not been able to hold an arc. Even with it being a 3600 rpm diesel I would still expect some decent life out of it with having 2,300 hours on it. Service life and life quailty is everything. I would buy it for that price if everything checked out on it. It's a 1/4 of the price of a new one so even if you have to put alittle money in it you would still come out ahead.

i had a 302D on my Service truck ... it ran very well until about 5000 hrs and then i started having trouble with it randomly going into a 'coughing fit'. It wouldnt cut out , but stumble for 4 or 5 seconds just enough to hear it in the tone and feel it when welding. Took it to the shop 5 or 6 times and each time it checked out perfectly.

It seemed to only do it after being run hard all day ... but it was annoying.

would i buy it again? sure. i loved that machine.

Those symptoms on a Diesel usually indicate small amounts of water in the fuel. My 2013 TDI does it from time-to-time. The tractors have a oversized bowl for the fuel filter and collect water there. Periodic draining is needed.

I solved a whole pile of tractor problems when I moved the fuel cans inside the barn and added a really good filter between the pump and the hose nozzle. Checking and draining the water from the fuel filter bowls is now an annual procedure. Not out-in-the-field-emergency-service any more.

I usually fill my in bed tank with diesel and fill equipment with that that way it is filtered before it goes into equipment helps keep equipment filters cleaner.
