[QUOTE=Lis2323;8808997]With the current prices of steel I think many will be reconsidering spending the extra time to clean used scrap for their projects.

Thanks to BD1 and PSA for their reviews on burnishing ( surface contour) tools as it excelled at cleaning surface rust off contoured areas like this 6" pipe.

I wish I had purchased one sooner.

No problem, happy to help you spend some $$$$$ . Yours is definitely BIG $$$$ and high quality as is Pats.

Just wait until you see it on flat steel, it's an amazing tool. I said the same thing, Should have bought one sooner. The same goes for my Dynabrade 1/2''x18'' belt sander.

sanding in crotches and tight spots the thing is great.

Here's the hanging tool and accessory holder I made. It's handy and has room for more drums too !

I love the tool and accessory holder!

This is THE best tool for cleaning flat surfaces. Much more efficient, quicker and easier on the body.

I removed heavy rust from this section of 6" square tube in a few minutes.

Thanks, I posted my tool holder before and works well. I cleaned up 4x4 tube for my neighbor and he couldn't believe the results. I haven't even tried the drum made for rust

    specifically for removal !

I have a couple of horseshoe crosses to make so I'll try the 1'' wide wheels for those. This is another tool I should have bought long ago.

Donner is like me in that he has bad knees, is getting older and a little fatter. I made a ramp to make it easier for him to get in the Honda CRV.

    Scrap metal art or projects

Here's my scrap metal project. A cart for the belt grinder.

The only things I had to purchase were the two total lock swivel casters and paint.

I spent half my time with the wire wheel on the angle grinder.

Still have to make a swivel mount for the VFD.

These are brackets used to hold a ladder to a dock or pier so a person can climb out of the water.

We use these at work once a year or so.

The upside down U shape clamps onto the ladder while the right angle piece goes underneath the slats in the pier.

I copied the design from an Etsy ad - don't think it's worth $350 though!

Shootr it never will be if you don’t think it is.

So what's a fair price for a real fire hydrant - all 200+lbs of it?

    I agree with Terry.

That dog looks great. Dont be afraid to ask for good money.

A week and a half ago I had one of my bells for $3,500 at an art show and sold it for $3,150 to a fellow artist.

I sold a medium sized version of it for $1,300 the next day.

Personally, I think you under priced your nautilus and wind spinner thingy. But I was in your shoes a while ago. I understand how it goes.

I dont have a price in mind yet, but knowing me, I would have it in my pile for a year or two before I did something with it.

A friend of mine has literally a ton of them as he collects them for his movie set biz.

(Hence the steel plate platform )

The seller was 90 years old so I was on my own loading it. Dragged it over to a curb that I could back up to. That got my tailgate just low enough that I could get the top against it. Then a healthy squat got it in.

I don't want to do that again...

My friend has a personal connection to them. He quit school at age ten as he was dyslexic (and nobody knew what that was back then) and worked in his grandfather’s foundry.

As an adult he bought and cleaned up the (downtown) property and sold it about ten years back for $6 million.
