I like them all. Is the rebar in Unfinished Business just cleaned and polished?

I'm OK with names, but you certainly don't need suggestions from me for ways to improve you work. I'm always impressed the with the work you show here.

Here’s a welding gas bottle cage I built using a scrap IBC tote cage.

The cage looks great. I like how it is expandable to hold more cylinders.

While looking for a dirty rat in the shop I played around a little with some loose rats nest of some mig wire. It's my MASTER PIECE

I call it "difficult day in the shop" I should put the rat in the middle of the rief and call it " the Ratsterpiece"

Grab a section of that about 15 - 20 feet long and fold it in half then put it in the drill. Twist it up pretty tight and then cut it into 2-3 foot sections and it makes great filler wire for TIG welding.

Thanks for the mig wire as tig filler wire tip. I have enough of this wasted mig wire that it defineitely makes it worth trying.

Re: Scrap metal art or projects

I was commissioned to make a set of wall sconces or candle holders using the symbol from the music artist "Prince". The customer wanted them thick or beefy (1/2" thick or more), out of metal and needed to be 18 inches tall. I suggested aluminum but they couldn't afford that so we went with 1/2" steel. These things weigh about 16.5 pounds each.

I cut the pieces out of 1/8" to test the drawings but still had some errors when the full thickness was cut.

I have a lot more hours in this project than I preferred. That is because I used this to teach myself two CAD programs so they could be cut on a friends plasma table. There were a few mistakes in my drawings that I had to weld up to correct. Overall I am pretty happy with the results and learning the programs so I can make other projects faster and more consistently.

Thin double sided tape for the small mirrors and then thick/heavy duty double sided tape for the big one.

I figured this is probably the best place for this considering I used scrap plate to make the base for the flag pole.

Thank you Pat. Here’s a better pic of how it looks after you come around the corner and what every one sees as they turn onto my street. I originally was making a base to mount on the corner of the tall column to the left below the upper roofline but it is lined with foam and coated externally with stucco. Some of the guys here that deal with construction talked me out of that idea. I think this new location is more common and less likely to have any mounting failures from high winds. Oh and the flag won’t be rubbing on the column or rain gutter from above. Win win.

I will probably weld a couple of hooks or loops to the bottom of the plate so that I can hang a Bates Motel sign with chains as a Halloween prop. Could also use the flag pole hole to insert some pole to use as a hang mans pole to hang another prop from the neck. All kinds of options there.

Thank you Lis. Easy I placed a sign on it that said Hot Wheels Tracks FREE. It was gone by the end of the day yesterday. The rest of the crap in my driveway won’t be there much longer. We don’t have a home owners association. The tracks were slated for the last run to the dumps but I figured some neighborhood kid would appreciate them more than the landfill.

It looks nice. It also looks like it's a PITA if you have to use a ladder to raise the flag in the morning and lower it at dusk. Or do you have a light shining on the flag so you can leave it flying at night?
