I “rescued” this Rubbermade cart from the dumpster last week. A little too domestic looking for my liking with the moulded shelves but the price was right.
So today I bent up a piece of scrap 16 gauge sheet to make a can holder.
and cut up these pieces of L shaped rubber strips (maybe for retaining landscape stone and pavers?) someone threw out.
Bolted together they make not bad tool holders....
Running some 1/4" aluminum through the router table to put a bevel on them prior to welding.
Aaron from 6061 does the same thing and that is where I got the idea.

A week and a half ago I had one of my bells for $3,500 at an art show and sold it for $3,150 to a fellow artist.
I sold a medium sized version of it for $1,300 the next day.
Personally, I think you under priced your nautilus and wind spinner thingy. But I was in your shoes a while ago. I understand how it goes.

I figure when (if) I ever kind of get established, I'll be able to inch up the prices. I really wasn't planning on selling the Nautilus but my front yard is getting a little full lol.
I guess after a year, I kind of forgot all the effort that went into it so $700 seemed worth it to me. Probably like childbirth lol. Plus, over time, if I don't get/stay emotionally tied to something, I have no problem getting rid of it (the exact opposite of the missus).
I appreciate all your kind words as well as advice - I'm super happy that a year after diving into this I'm still having the most fun ever with a hobby.

Shootr - in agreement with the real pro-artists on this thread - your creativity is inspiring. cleverness is evolving - fun to log in, take a break from reality and click through this thread for all of the great ideas - thx to all
For giggles I put an ad on craigslist to see if anyone could bead blast this for me on a budget. One of my customers came over (he manages an aerospace sub-contracting manufacturing shop) and said he would do it for a $50 spot - even picked up and delivered. Next time he runs a batch of his parts, he'll do this at the end, and just recycle the ground glass to save a dollar or two. My hero!

I copied the design from an Etsy ad - don't think it's worth $350 though!
After looking at these on the computer instead of the phone, my advice is to clean up the black paint lines. Maybe try a Sharpie marker or very fine brush. I have also had some good success with the ink markers or paint pen markers in extra fine or fine tip.
Paint and detail work like that are my nemesis. Between my slowly deteriorating eyes and slightly shaky hands, it is easy to make a mistake.

A blank canvas...I like it! 6 layers of paint, the guy that blasted it for me said the crushed glass worked best. I'm thinking water feature/fountain of some sort.

Since Pat posted the "SOLD", I sold my Darth Vader log burner. I put too much time and effort fabricating it up to lower my price. We all know what it take to make any art project. Pat, is the inspiration for many of us.
We are here to help each other and contribute what we can. Thanks everyone for contributing to our addiction.
I sold it for my set price of $1,000.00, and got it, no hesitation in her buying it. I did deliver it to her 12 miles away. Those $$$ will go for my Florida trip.
Ok you scrap artist I have a small amount of drop from a Plasma cut project, 24 arches about 6" long 3/8" thick and just under a 1/2" wide. If you can use them just pay the shipping ($8.45 Priority mail small box) and they are yours. Second image is where they came from.

Trying to learn about the new plasma table and use up as much of this scrap material as possible .

We had a plasma setup at work that was used to cutout sheetmetal duct fittings.
The operator would type in the fitting sizes and shapes. The computer did the rest to minimize waste. Usually there was 1/8" between cuts. Pretty amazing, until it broke.
The youngins had no idea how to layout fittings by hand. The old guys saved the day.
Can't wait to see what you make with all the little drops you're making with your new toy.
These are just tabs to add to the bases of some.of my sculptures.
I am practicing adjusting cut speeds and settings to try to get less dross and better understand the machine.

These diver benches were made a while ago by someone else but never tested.
It turns out the legs did not fit into the sockets since the hole was not round and ended up being slightly under sized. I used the boring bar in the Bridgeport to open up the hole and make it round.

to remove dross and mill scale from Plasma cut parts soak them in a 50/50 mix of Muriatic acid and water over night, wash with water and then mix of water and washing soda (baking soda soap, 20 mule team) then blow dry with shop air.
