I use that technique to remove mill scale all the time. I just used it to remove mill scale yesterday. I did not know it will help to remove the dross.

Thanks Pat. I do get emails from Eastwood daily. I'm waiting for free shipping although $12.00 isn't bad
Now I have to get a couple of these and a couple of the 320 grit to keep up with you guy's .
No problem finding goodies to buy.

I got an ad from HF last month and at the bottom they had "coming soon" - it looked like a knock off of one of these burnishers. I'm keeping my eyes peeled just for giggles.

I bet that's gonna be like all their power tools,
    90 day warranty.
I have the Eastwood which is $200.00.
I have been thinking about it and noticed they have a 3 year warranty. That was a no brainer descison to buy with that warranty.
Maybe they'll have a Father Day Specials ?
That tool is great ! I'm gonna order a few drums, especially that 60 grit for $13.00.

I rescued a bunch of Metro shelving from the scrap bin years ago.

So today I used one 36x18 section for the base of a dunnage rack for my forklift.

Added a toolbox while I was at it..

Ready for a little fine tuning and paint tomorrow.. maybe.

Today was replacing a damaged light arch on top of a boat.

The arch was made by someone else, i just had to remove the old one and weld the new one.

The TIG button really came in handy and is highly recommended.

Cut off wheel on the 4.5 inch and 3 inch grinder. Sometimes I use a hand held plasma for some designs.

Today's scrap metal find. A friend grabbed these for me from work. They were cleaning up and he was instructed to "get rid of it".

Torsion arms for measuring jet engine torque.

The blue one was for Sky King helicopters and the other one unknown.

The arm with the holes in it has a lot of potential.

It has been a very busy and happy couple of days.
Last Thursday I installed this bell at the Portsmouth Arts and Cultural Center in Virginia.
It will be on display and for sale for four months.

Re: Scrap metal art or projects

This past weekend I had another art show and I was blown away by how many people came out and bought items.

These items as well as a bunch of smaller bells sold.

That's great Pat !! I talked with a few vendors at my show . There's not much happening unless you want to travel.
One guy travels all over. He has awesome trailer setup. Most impressive was his electric powered mover for his dislpay carts. It's what normally used for moving trailers around. All terrain too.

Re: Scrap metal art or projects

Yard art is my latest 100% scrap project.

Fire escape ladder from hospital wing my excavating company demoed 35 years ago.

Discarded scaffolding braces which I straightened out. Old fasteners and miscellaneous steel from my sod harvester I scrapped. Bent t bar post and closing disc from a John Deere spud planter for the sign post.

Two shelves for planters and two round brackets for 6" plant pots
