Did your wife see you sneak that home?![]()
She knows. I was late to pick her up the day I got the weights. She was not happy about the tractor but she got over it. Besides I have a working loader on a JD 317 now![]()

$0.50/lb for those weights is a good price assuming they are 10 kilo/44 lbs. If they are heavier, even better!
But the tractor ? Do you have a similar tractor to move the loader / implements / new tires onto? That tractor itself looks like it would cost more to put in service than to buy one intact. My elderly Yanmar (photo) took a month of finding missing parts - fuel filter assembly etc - and replacing maintenance items - battery, filters etc. Then since that 2003 minor renovation it has needed near nothing, so it was worth the effort. But that Deere appears to need far more than that. What is that model worth in good running condition?
I took the loader off of the 140 and installed it onto one of my running 317 tractors. Welding being one of my hobbies and Garden Tractors being my other puts me in a good place to make the swap. I have wanted a 140 for a long time. This one is just a parts tractor for when I do find one at the right price. I had to modify the front Pump Frame to make the pump pulley adjustable in a way that it slides in towards the engine for belt alignment. It works pretty good and I am happy with it for the most part. The 3ph sells for close to what I paid for the whole package alone. The Johnson 12 Loaders in working condition can go for $1500-$2000 to the right buyer. This one is from a patio tractor so worth a bit more if I was to resell but I'm hacking it up for my use and not worrying about resale value. The Gannon Earthcavators sell for about $500 as well. So all in all it was a fantastic deal IMO. Most every thing I got in that deal was very rare and hard to find and very desirable items in the Garden Tractor Communities
Edit: The Suitcase weights are JD 42# weights. Retailers list them as 44 lbs but they are actually 42 lbs. https://www.homedepot.com/p/John-Dee...0029/100608539 The weights I got do not have the deere logo on the sides but they have the part numbers molded into them so I know they are factory old school deere weights.
Here is the loader working and and the mods to the pump frame.

You did good!
Thanks, I have been wanting a loader for a long time
Oh and about the rear wheels. Actually with all of the JD tractors I have all of the wheels and attachments etc etc are all interchangeable from one tractor to the other.
Actually she was home when the PO delivered it to me from phone call and agreed upon price. We agreed to $500 then he asked how about $600 delivered. I said sold and he lives about an hour away from me in Turlock, CA.

Bought a squarewave 275 from a buddy for 650 who traded for it on Craigslist for a crappy cr250 dirt bike he rebuilt if that counts either lol he needed to pay another buddy back for borrowing money at the casino and lost it all and his wife wasn't allowed to find out..
Can't beat free:
Super stout little brake for $100:

The tag says junk, is it?
It’s a horizontal mill. No headstock. Well, it’s an option and you can get them, but this doesn’t have one.
To be determined but I’m going to say no. I ordered a new gun and will know within a week what other parts it may need. The drive motor works when the trigger wires are jumpered. The speed varies with the speed control knob also. So I can rule out wire speed control issues. Now to see if the contactor needs replacing. Everything else looks good.

Well, I don't know were the rest of you live, but CL in the S.F bay area everyone thinks that what they list is priceless.I did buy a Lincoln Weld & Power 225 from a member of the forum here for 100 bucks on CL. Had to rebuild the Briggs, and buy a pair of ear defenders
Still a very good deal. Recently got a Craftsman 90amp MIG free. It was my teaser into buying something way more expensive. So maybe free wasn't such a good deal after all.

I recently picked up a weld n power 150 with a Kohler K241 for $30 at an ag auction in Lodi, CA while ww was broken. It needs work as well. I think something inside the generator is broken.
Lincoln, ESAB, Thermal Dynamics, Victor, Miller, Dewalt, Makita, Kalamzoo. Hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting tools.
Not Craigslist, but a pretty sweet score.
Stopped by an antique/junk shop and this yardstick catches my eye due to having 1/100 graduations on it. Wondering out loud "what kind of yardstick is this?
Flipped it over.. starrett, made in US, tempered steel.
Guy has a price tag of 30 on it. Ask him if that's right, and he says I'll take 25. I walk away to think about it, quick Google search and I find it's worth almost 400..
I go back in and snag it
25 bucks for a 370 dollar Yard stick.
I scored a nice JD 214 w Kohler K341 for $75.00
Lincoln, ESAB, Thermal Dynamics, Victor, Miller, Dewalt, Makita, Kalamzoo. Hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting tools.
Been years ago, but I picked up several multi anvil Starrett mics, in the original wooden boxes, for $40 per set. $1k-$2k each new . Also bought a Starrett 12" vernier caliper for I think $25...it was $550 new.
Picked up this south bend 13". Other than being filthy it appears to have very little wear. It came with a 3 and a 4 jaw 8" chuck, along with some other tooling. Bd1 was nice enough to take a quick look at it and put a deposit down on it for me. Ended up being about a 3 hour drive to pick up. Wasn't a steal, but at 1200$ was a pretty good price. From what I found it appears to be somewhere around 1959-1961 manufactured date.![]()
