Now that looks like a good idea. Not as sexy as the old torches, but definitely a good solution to the tipping problem!

I used a holesaw to cut a hole just a bit bigger than the torch in a 8" long chunk of 2x8 which works quite well for the same purpose.

LOL. Yeah "fine" woodworking it sure was! What is funny is that I do a lot of WW for many years and welding and metal work is fairly recent for me by comparison - and more limited scope, most of the time. But I often find myself crossing over when doing metal work and I often prototype or mock up with wood scraps. Much easier to test somethign out in wood and I have more scraps than god himself at this point...

Now that I know God is also a packrat, I have a better understanding of where all my stuff comes from. All this time I thought my son was hauling it in when I wasn't looking. Now I understand, it falls from Heaven!

i was on a craigslists adventure and the seller was talking about hammers and mentioned how to fix a loose handle with multiple installed wedges and still loose was to soak the hammer in antifreeze. the antifreeze swells the handle and takes like forever to dry out!

I had a fiberglass handled one where the fiberglass was starting to chip out of the top. I drove a small metal wedge in to retighten it, and filled the gap with JB Weld. That has to be 4 or 5 yrs ago and it's still good.

Good morning - yanked the motor and screw drive from a discarded treadmill the boss was throwing away. 2.5hp continuous duty, no ideas what the max rpm is.

Then picked up a bucket of old files - gotta be 80 at least for $25.

You can soak the files in a 50/50 muriatic acid and water overnight to clean out all the gunk, check out file sharpening on YouTube. The tread mill motor will work fine if you get the controller board with it, or use other electronics packages to control it. I used one on one of the grinders I build and sold.
