    The Official Craigslist Score Thread!

Taking the idea from Gambles thread, everyone loves a good score on Craigslist or other classified ad. So post your finds here; welders, tools, whatever.

I got this for $200 on Craigslist it was pretty beat up and the 50' 2/0 leads looked like an add for electrical tape but it worked. I sunk about $70 bucks into it for paint and new leads. Name: image.jpg

The Lincoln engine drive was a good, easy to work on machine. I worked at a fence company that used them for aux. 115 volt power or running 1/8' 6013. Never had a problem with the smaller gas tank as we might have ran them for an hour a day, 2-3 times a week. I liked the battery box, too. Easy to jump start, unlike the current Miller's with the buried battery. Good quality running gear.

That is a 2015 model with slow pulse only, not high speed pulse. Also warranty is not transferable. I can set you up with a new one with full warranty delivered to your doorstep for close to that offer.

Brand new 2016's can be had for $700. That's the reasoning with my "offer". I was really just being an ***. It is on my watch list, just not quite at this moment.

This motor drive Hobart for $175. Detailed as nicely as a show car. 300 amp 10 speed unit, with the fine adjust removable to use as a remote.

Huh? What did you say? I can't hear you over the welder. Because of the noise of the fan and the brushes it needs longer leads, but it welds almost as sweet as my engine drive Lincoln.

I use a 6" setup for all my sharpening and it is great , puts razor edge on a knife in two minutes.

Never bought anything from Craigslist myself..
    Found stuff for others however.

Never sold anything on Craigslist either.
Got plenty of free firewood from Craigslist...

And I have gotten rid of lots of stuff using the free section of Craigslist.

Re: The Official Craigslist Score Thread!

A machining company was going out of business not too far from me so I bought these items in the online auction.

    The total cost was $420.
I ended up with the following:
    10" rotary table $105
    10" three jaw chuck $55
    8" rotary table $50
5 boxes of hold down tooling $60
1 box of double end mills $55
2 boxes of lathe bits, box of boring bars, 3 rivet guns, hacksaw blades and some weird three sides knives, 20 pieces of round stock I am going to use for third hand weights. These items were unsold so I offered $36 and it was accepted

Add in the auctioneers premium and I am out $420. I am happy and may sell some of the items to recoup my expenses

This could potentially be a good score. Anyone know how much one of the boards cost that they are refering to? I asume they meant pc board. If i can get them repaired for a decent price i might look into this.

Re: The Official Craigslist Score Thread!

    I wonder....

The local tech school near me where my cousin teaches has had to destroy the circuit boards when the manufacturer donates or sells the school new ones way cheaper than msrp.
He's told me that he has taken hammers to the boards while the manufacturers rep watched him.
I've been lucky to pick a few up and thanks to him, not all are hit in the same spot...so some extra time and some decent soldering tools, I've been able to save a few from the dumpster...had to kinda sneak them out of the dumpster but here in GA, when you toss it in the garbage it technically doesn't belong to anyone

Wouldn't touch them for $400 a piece. You'll spend more than it's worth to fix it. Main board prolly gonna be in the $600-1200 range. Just a guess, but if it has more problems (they usually do) it'll be pointless to spend the money.

There's a real good reason ppl put stuff like this on CL and play dumb. They already took them into service and found out it was gonna cost a truckload of money to repair them.

    Avoid like the plague.

    IMHO of course

Re: The Official Craigslist Score Thread!

I sent him a text asking what curcuit board needed replacement and all he said was the tech he talked to told him the pc board needed to be replaced. I wish i knew more about it. If i could buy one for $400 and it only needs a couple hundred in repair it would be worth it, but i dont know if i want to take that risk.
