I believe it was another forum member that put a colored dash on the feed roller and filmed it while welding. With some simple math he was able to determine actual feed rate. It's hard to do it otherwise.

Just purchased the new unit. I haven't un-boxed it yet but cant wait to test it out. Oleg Said it should come with the adapter needed to run the 12" Spool and i insisted many times that i wanted to order it so i will give an update on that as well when i do my unboxing tomorrow. Please if anyone has any suggestions or questions regarding this new unit before i open please ask so i can make notes and give you feedback. Box has some damage but doesn't look like it penetrated.

    Couple of things.
First, the adapter is to fit the 8" roll. None needed for the 12" roll.
Second start off with simple settings before working into more advanced ones as you get the feel of the machine.
Third, if you have any trouble pm me and I'll get in touch with you and we can test things together, as I have a unit here that I am currently working with.

Looks All good so Far. Adapter is indeed for the 8" Spool and fits perfectly. New Drive roll Assembly looks bulky and strong. I used a similar competitor machine to come up with a Settings Chart. I know some people like the Miller Ap and i cross checked all the setting with different thicknesses and wire and they matched right up. I figured it would be easier for starting point reference then pulling out a phone everytime i had to check. Ill attach that in next post. Plugged her in to my 240V and she fired right up. Cant wait to lay some test beads.

Don't coil your cord when it is in use. Bad idea.

Yes strictly for storage. Its plugged in but that was just to start the Unit. I know that the coil can generate a lot of heat under use and melt insulation over time. Very expensive cord i dont want to damage nor do i want to start a fire.

It can also change the voltage, and create a magnetic field.

Looking forward to hearing about the performance. I've been back and forth between the 211si and 251si so this should help me make a decision.

    Hi Kevin and KMA,
Some detailed performance reviews would be great. ALWAYS GOOD TO KNOW WHAT QUIRKS HIDE UNDER THE HOOD.
I've been trying to get updated (DETAILED) specs on the 251Si to decide if the differences are worth the extra bucks. The web site has not be updated yet. Anything else besides pulse MIG (nice to have) and roll capacity (not needed) to squeeze the hard earned dollars out of my tightly clenched fist? Certainly the dual feed roller is also a plus if I want to run longer MIG cables (even if I don't run 12" rolls).
Then there is the manual issue. I would expect the 251Si manual will not be available for quite some time after the 211Si manual (whenever that is).
But I am still probably 251 bound.

    Weldmore.
The HF start for TIG is a prettty awesome feature and one of the reasons I picked up this unit. Also pretty good duty cycle compared to similar machines. Mine did come with a manual and it has the 251si part # on it but I haven't cracked it open yet. Will be doing so tomorrow. I am curious to see if it actually does reflect the current model as I have read that the manuals are usually outdated and useless. I will follow up tomorrow about that.

The manual is a joke really. I wish they would hire someone to write a proper one.

I write most of the manuals. But it takes time and when you have a dozen manual updates and new ones to write along with other duties, it is no easy or quick feat. They need to be correct as possible and user friendly as possible. I tell customers that I talk to, to call me if they have any questions about the unit or its operation until it the US manual is updated. I have to use and test the unit and take notes along with trying to get a feel of the unit and all this takes time. But I am glad to test or work on an answer for any customer while I have the unit.

The reason I thought the specs were not up to date is they still show 8" max roll diameter.

Well the manual i got is for the new model but its Choppy at best. Very hard to understand. I think the general basics are clear but nothing in depth or useful in trying to get max potential from the machine. Better off watching youtube or calling in if you need help. Lugweld.....do i need to register my unit or just hold on to the manual page that has what i think is a serial #?

There's the initial "manual", and then there's the "real" manual that Lugweld writes for it after it had been released.

Well i definitely agree that they should hire an outside source to pick apart all the functions and write a legit manual. I dont think i will have an issue by just playing with the machine but still something that should be done.

Well i laid my 1st bead today using some scrap 2x3(3/16") just using some std chart settings. 19.5 volts,290 wire feed, inductance at 30%. .030 Wire w/ C25 @ 18cfm

I am very happy to say the least. I cant wait to experiment a whole lot more. My shop is at my office so what little down time i have is when i screw around with it. Here is a pic of the bead. Nothing too amazing at but i m happy for only being a new found hobbiest welder for about a month now.
