I have a Tweco 211i that I need to setup for tig. It's a lift start, also has downslope. I've never used tig before, I'm setting my machine up for someone else that is also a first time user. What torch, pedal, etc will be best for my machine? Not looking to use in production but a good starter setup for some metal art, and to see if we want to spend the $ in a dedicated tig machine later. Any input and advice will be great, thank you!

Yeah,

At the Cyberweld site it shows this torch assembly as an option. The pedal as well. But I'm not so sure about the pedal as an option from the unit specs.

From the way you describe it, I would just get this cheaper TIG torch assembly, rather than getting the more premium CK SafeLoc connector, SuperFlex cable, TIG torch, contractor switch, and then the other torch consumables. That stuff can come later, and you'll know when that time is, when it happens, or not, I'm guessing.

I mean, the torch assembly shown below is 26 series, which is a bit heavier and can handle more heat than the 9 and 17 series torches, which both require a different connector and cable size. So, the 26 is good to learn on and will keep the torch from getting as hot as quickly.

So I'll still suggest a 26 torch assembly like this, as an initial and cheap gas-cooled torch. And you'll notice the gas valve on the torch, since the MIG solenoid doesn't seem to have the dual function for the TIG process. No biggie.

I would even forgo getting the foot pedal, as on-the-fly amperage adjustment isn't so critical on mild steel DC TIG welding. I used my first DC TIG welder for about five years without any amptrol device, because it didn't come with one. Just adjust at the panel like you would on Stick or MIG. Amptrol is very important on AC TIG, though. I mean, saving just that $181, probably plus shipping, is about $200 on the way to affording a 200 amp AHP AC/DC TIG welder that's only around $730, delivered, with the torch and pedal.

Otherwise, maybe after running with just the TIG torch for a little while, then you might want to add a foot pedal, to go a little further down the proverbial path.

I mean, if you're doing primarily MIG welding on steel, TIG may only be helpful a small percentage of the time, and the single Tweco unit may do.
