    A small taste of structural

Well, if you can call it that. It's nothing that would impress CEP. I was welding away in the shop and was told to bring the truck around the shop. I got to weld some column pockets on. I didn't do any of the work, other than clamp and weld the pockets where they were placed. I ran 5/32" lo-hy just over 3 on the Commander ditch box.

Why you always running 5/32?That stuff is thin 1/8 rod fine.Plates look 1/4" by eye and my experience with those.Your choice but beads look huge for small plates.

It's what was in the rod's & stub's bucket at the time. Yep, I have about 4000 lbs. of 1/8" lo-hy, I really need to start using more of it.

Hello Stick-man, not to break anyone's ********* too hard, but what's up with the "square slots" on the bottom flange of those beam ends? I'm just curious. Best regards, Allan

Is that red lincoln a stick welder? Never seen a welder looking like that. Whats up with the exposed wiring? Looks like a electrocution hazard to me.

Square slots? didn't even notice until you mentioned it. I have no idea. Like I said, I didn't do any of the work, other than throw a finger clamp on and make the weld. They placed them, and did all the other work. I don't know much about structural.

That's a form of natural selection for unwanted guests or otherwise low hanging fruit.
