The Welding Cart Thread... Post 'Em Up!!

Here’s my cart build.

I built it from a $50, 750 lb capacity warehouse cart.
Here’s the cart in its original form.


I cut it up into its major pieces for easier storage till I could turn it into a cart. My aim is to reuse the rounded corners as much as possible.


Here’s a shelf cut to 18”’ wide.


I narrowed the tall back frame to 18”. Wide enough to accommodate two 110 cu ft tanks.


Here is the frame tacked onto the base. I mitred the corners for a clean look.


I cut more of the parts up to make the shelf supports and the top shelf side guards.


I’m going to put a drawer for TIG consumables under the top shelf and possibly one on the base to hold grinding wheels and other gear.
Plus I’ll add hose hangers, filler rod holders and pedal holder.

Thanks. I thought I might be able to use the base as it was but it wasn’t a good fit. I will chop it up for the 1x3 tubing though.

Just about finished the cart.
@lis2323 provided some excellent tank straps so no chain or ratchet straps required.
Still need to add a drawer, cable hangers and some rod holders.
Pretty happy with how it came together.

I scrapped the idea for using the wheelbarrow frame for a workbench.



I made this portapotti today



and will save $200 monthly rental on this



I can’t wait to see what my maintenance yard tenants think of it

Next, you need to weld up a grate,, and get some charcoal, and burgers,,,

I built this a while ago. I love the wheel chair wheels. They are rated for 375lbs and handle the weight just fine. I can wheel around on the gravel driveway no problem. Cords and hoses are a non issue. Any advise for cable management?

Here is the cart for my PM85. When it is on the lower shelf it will roll up under the rear section of the plasma table. It too needs cable management, but I usually just hang the leads and on the handles.

You could also dress the gusset up a bit to look like spider webs. A quick google search shows them from $5-25 or so.

how much $ was that dryer?

The dryer is the HTP Max Dry XXL, it was about $450 +/- on the HTP web site (USA Weld)
It is a very nice piece of hardware. If I bought it again, I would probably buy the standard Max Dry.
The desiccant cartridge is pretty big on the XXL, and is way overkill for my use.
I live in low humidity Southern California, and my compressor has a decent dryer on it also.

The casters I used were rated for 80 pounds and my welder is only like 30 pounds, so it should be good, not sure how much a full bottle weighs

I did have to use an 90 degree coupler on the back of the welder so it wouldn’t be in the way of the bottle.

I tried to make it as compact as I could
