hey guys, im looking at picking up a miller trailblazer 300d, but i need to get some info first because there are a few quirks to this guys story. i attached a few pics of the machine so hopefully that will help to figure out what the deal is on it. he is saying its a 2008 but the serial number starts with KJ, doesnt that mean that its a 1998 ? also he said he paid an extra 6000 for the marine package which according to him means that everything is coated to protect it from salt water/the elements better then a regular machine....neither myself, christian electric or air liquide has heard of this. anyone here hear of it ?

thanks a lot for your help, i really appreciate it.

would bet the farm and then some that's not an 08, as it looks exactly like my 98, stainless cover was an option but not 6k

one other thing , if you are going to buy it, check all the functions cc and cv, and if you do get it DO NOT jump start it or charge the battery in the machine

The $64,000 question is: How much does the guy want and how many hours does it have on it?

It's a high RPM diesel, and guaranteed to be epic $$$ to fix if it decides to take a dump after you buy it. I believe Miller did indeed, offer a marine package for certain machines, so it is plausible although his pricing sounds pretty out of touch. That may have been the extra $$ for the Diesel engine with stainless sheetmetal, marine coating, etc. I believe the TB diesel machines were coming in around $10K if memory serves for the standard model. Something in that price range anyways.

Personally, unless it's an extraordinary deal (I'm betting it's not) and the hours are low, I would just leave it where it is and spend your money on something else. Being in Canada, it is entirely possible the guy really did pay huge dollars for it. Any American made machinery is going to cost a lot more there than here. I'm betting for what this guy probably wants for that, you could buy a new TB 325 for comparable money.

KJ prefix would make it a 1998 machine.

Just remember, that those small diesels are not like their larger, lower RPM counterparts running in the bigger welders. You're really not going to gain a whole lot in fuel savings versus gas and like I said, mantainance/repair costs will easily be double or more than a gas engine on the same machine.

I wouldn't touch it unless it was a dirt cheap deal. It doesn't look like it's been optimally cared for either.

I bet he wants a small fortune for it...

IMHO of course

I'd have to agree with ya Steve! The new 325's are a heck of a lot of machine for the money IMO. And quiet and fuel efficient too!!

Yeah. The thing in the OPs case is that being in Canada, pricing will be considerably higher for the same stuff. What may seem like a grossly overpriced deal to us can be a relatively good one up North, especially in more isolated areas where used machinery doesn't come along often.

I'm guessing the guy thinks he's sitting on a gold pile and is going to want north of $5K. Wouldn't be surprised if it's got a ton of hours on it too. Those little diesels are nothing to write home about. Great for a big, deep pocketed company that wants all their gear to run on the same fuel. But, for the every day joe who wants an engine drive and doesn't necessarily need that feature, it's a waste of money all the way around.

It breaks down, you might as well junk it. It'll cost a fortune to fix. Especially in CA.

Hope that gun is burning good for you. I found some stuff, I'll send you a care package when I get a minute :)

IMHO of course

Yeah you've got a good point on the Canada thing...didn't even think of that.

Sounds great!! Thanks!!

It's running great!! I ended up just soldering the lead since I still haven't been to Lincoln or Omaha where I could get a new end crimped on. Sucks having to drive an hour to your LWS. I've only used it a couple times...Mostly messing around with it. I have a horse trailer that needs some serious attention so I'll get some good trigger time in with it on that.
