Pipe Stand Adapter - Ideas Needed

Who doesn't have a bunch of pipestands (if you don't you should they are super handy)? I'm looking for new ways to attach things to pipestands so as to create different options such as a miniature table for grinding, a seat to sit on, a vice whatever it is that you may want. Currently I am using a slip over system of large rectangular piece of square tube with welded on nuts and bolts to take up the slack that has been slipped over the "V" of the pipe stand than the bolts are tightened to create a pinching effect. Having said that there has to be a better system.

I was wondering if the community could help me come up with a better system for securing flat plate to the top of a pipe stand for temporary use for the above mentioned and other activities.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I use 4" channel to set on top with two pieces of flat stock set to the " V " with.
As for other goodies I used a rim with pipe upright and receiver tube welded to the pipe. This way it's portable and can be used for almost anything. Here's mine where it's used for vise, shear, ring roller, or whatever you want to stick in it.

I fill mine with concrete and put wheels on them. Like he said very handy:jester:

It is, he can use the '' pipe stand base '' and adapt the top with receiver hitch tube . Quick , easy, and functional. I didn't want to tie up a pipe stand when a simple recyclable rim is easy.
I used a rim instead of of a pipe stand base. Same stuff but different support. That's how I read

I think what BD1 is referring to is the channel is cut to a lentgh that is longer than the vee section. The flats are pieces to keep the channel from sliding into or off the end of the vee.

'' I Would probably do a slight modification and thread the endplates so as to lock it down more securely without any wobble. ''

I was gonna drill holes in the flat stock and tack a nut to it to help prevent movement. I only use the channel when I use the stand for flat material to rest on.

Depending on your type of stand, you may find tube to fit so you can use the stand locking screw. Then just add a top of your choice and weld to the tube for grinder vise or whatever. So instead of receiver tube, you would have a assortment of tubes that drop into your pipe stand. There are a variety of ways to get the same results.
