I was looking for a "Oxy Acetylene Welding Hose Reel" and found this on Ebay,

I have a few similar for air, (actually two of them), and one for high pressure washer,

has any one tried one, and what is your opinion of the unit,

how do the sealing system hold up,

would like one for the service truck.

Take it easy man, you get what you pay for when you sign up on a free internet discussion forum. For all you know, it could have been all people who were thinking you were posting up a great new reel review being sold at a great price, as your thread title doesn't exactly reveal if you have a question or are gonna make a statement. As readers, you just never know. Or do you?

Most are just sealed with O-rings. It appears that would be the same way. I have several hose reels for torches. I can't remember the brand right of the top of my head but the are spring return. I have had to reseal them a couple of times over the years. O=rings can be found most anywhere. Not sure what the price is on that but I don't believe it would be a bad investment.
Just happen to remember Ithink mine are "Hanney Reels"

I order one. I will be a few weeks before I will be able to use it, but will try to report back on what I think of it after I get mounted and use it, I have a few other jobs that need to be done first, before I get back to my corral building.

I've got one that was advertised as a Chisholm Reels brand. I was disappointed when it showed up in a made in china harbor freight looking box. I could have bought the same one elsewhere and paid a lot less.

I've had it for a little over a year and it's held up fine so far with intermittent use. It does seem to be built fairly solid.

The only complaint I have is the connecting hose is very short and uses different fittings at the reel so you cant just swap it for a longer hose.

I have 100' of hose on mine. It holds it fine, but it has to be wound neatly or it will hit the mount.

Thank you,
for your responses, like I said I will try it out, I did not spend the Chisholm Reels brand, price for it, less than half of there price,

I am sure there are better units out there, (like I said I have two harbor fright air reals that look very similar) and they get used a lot, the one is probably pushing 8 years old now, and gets used Nearly daily, unroll and roll up, air hose,

and the air real on the service truck is a harbor fright as well and has held up now for 2 or 3 years, Not the use as the shop one but used,

and one that look to be by the same company for a sewer jetter,(high pressure washer), only used a few times but handy,

I hope this will hold up well for my needs,

I could see some places upping the price in the $200+ range and some places in the $75, range, I bought from a place lower cost than on Ebay, but by picture shopping look to be the same Chinese unit, all look to be the same pictures,

I got it and mounted it on the service truck and so far really like it, makes my life much easier, on putting up the hose,

and for the info, I saw a welder friend of mine in town and saw he had some Chisholm Lead Reels, so I stopped and asked if he minded if I looked them over, as I wanted to build something like them, in the conversation he said he had a old set that the bearings locked up, (different brand of reel), and offered to sell them to me, if he could find them, so I left and asked him to call me if he found them, about 15 ins after I got home he pulled in the drive way and had them with them I payed him a small fee for them, took them apart, (not an easy job as they had welded the bearing on the shafts), got them apart and cleaned up made some new shafts, and have them welded in the plates, that bolt on the up rights, and have some aluminum round I am going to turn some solid bearings out of, and will have them on the truck soon,

thanks for the discussion,

Would be interested on how it works out. I do have the regular air hose reel(same as yours) which has worked out well for it being mounted out in the open. The air hose real mounting bracket does have some rust, but overall works great. Got another air hose reel(same model) and put oxy/acet hose in it , but used some quick disconnect couplers to unhook it when reeling hose in or out. Do not use it enough to spend more $$$ on a setup like yours and this reel is mounted inside a box (vented box). If i remember the air hose reel was $35-40 and the oxy/acet reel was $150-170. This was in the early 90's before Ebay.
