The former owner was a complete hack when it came down to hanging the drywall and doing the wiring. Most of the screws were sunk right thru the paper and pieces of drywall with no reasoning as to which direction it was put on. Most of the outlets weren't mounted very well either.

Don't forget to tie all of the bay door openings together as well, those are the weakest part. Your sure moving along fast!

I think it would hold up for moving, thankfully we don't need to do that
Those t-25 headed construction screws sure are the ticket. I used 10 pounds of the 3-1/8" screws so far.

More is always better . Nothing wrong with another 10 pounds of screws and 100' of additional lumber.

Most of the lumber was junk or free. There are many treasures to be found in the vast expanses of the " Land of crap".

You are absolutely right. Being a UNION Pipefitter / welder for over 40 years , EVERYTHING is overbuilt. One over my owners had us build a spreader bar because he didn't trust some factory manufactured one. Nowadays, they need to be stamped , approved, and weight limit on them.
The old man owner got a new water heater for free because the legs were broke. Brought it to the job sticking out of the trunk of the Lincoln and said make me a base. I was doing a pipe job with 20'' pipe, so he had a base with 20'' pipe to set it in. Talk about overkill, not to mention the base cost more than if he would have bought a new heater.

The thing with overkill is you never see the limit of something, unlike having something that isn't strong enough.

you might want to think about core filling the block with some rebar in there too, especially around the doors and back corners....couldn't hurt!

Not too bad for creaking and cracking. I used 20 ton jacks, but 8 ton would have been plenty. My next step is to disconnect the wiring coming in and cut the conduit.

I hear you about the 7018 not being in an oven. No current certifications either.
