I found one hell of a Craigslist score. Got it for around 100 bucks with extras like welding rods and two helmets.

added some tweco 2mpc plugs on it to replace the tired leads and so i can use my leads for both the ideal arc and the stick mate.

best part is it is still made in the USA :blob2:

also needless to say i won't be needing to buy any kinds of welding rods for quite some time.

also anyone got pictures of the carts they have made for theirs? I wanna make a cart kinda like what you see on the big gas powered pressure washers. its got to be able to be moved easily over dirt grass tree roots the like.

Ok... I think that score gets a well deserved, "You Suck!" lol

Wow, congrats on that one! Can't help with a cart cause I didn't keep mine long enough to build one before I scored the Idealarc.

Papa

you stole that sucker. the welder was free. you just paid for the rod. good little machine. i bought one for the shop for just the small stuff and so the boys could use it to learn without burning gas in the miller's. i built a plain jane cart for it but didn't take any pics. if i have the time tomorrow i'll pull it out and snap a couple pics.

Not quite sure why you need that with the idealarc 250, but at that price you really couldn't go wrong. You can easily sell that for twice the money if nothing else.

With all the rods, looks like you cleaned out a store shelf.

That's a great deal! A while back,I was looking for panel mount connectors like
your twecos, never found any.I bought Lenco lug type that I plan to install on my
T-Bolt.

Your Idealarc has much more umpff and a much higher duty cycle than the stickmate does. I would resell the stickmate for double what you paid for it and keep all the rod.

I consider myself in a better position to off a YOU SUCK!!!! than many of the guys here since I am also in Virginia.

Great find - I love my stickmate.

fhsfiremanco1...What A Steal! Hell of a Deal!
$100 for that new welder is quite fantastic!
Cripes... new and full paks you got $270 worth of electrodes there!
No wait... don't tell us... the two welding hemets that came with it... are auto-darking hoods?

Why this and not the Lincoln Idealarc
Simple WEIGHT! 100 lbs versus 350 - 400 lbs.
In no way can the Idealarc be considered portable! That's it's Acheales heel.
fhsfiremanco1 said it, "anyone got pictures of the carts they have made for theirs? I wanna make a cart kinda like what you see on the big gas powered pressure washers. its got to be able to be moved easily over dirt grass tree roots the like."
 Picture that with an Idealarc!!

Ricks got it I wanted it to hirt in the yard. The 180 is old and ac. I've pushed the ideal arc in the yard it sucks for it. I saw this and I figured what the hell. It's worth it just for the rods. Plus it doesn't pull 23 amps just sitting there on. I'll break out the big boy when I need the power and duty cycle

You could put an switch on your Idealarc to switch off/out the power factor capacitors when the machine is sitting at idle; switch them in/on just before you light up an arc and off/out again when done = best of both worlds.

rick v if i was gonna flip a switch i would just turn it off :blob3: lol

Lance is your stickmate kinda loud? i think i may need to grease and tighten the shunt. it sounds kinda mad but no diode loss or shorts checked all that and even welded with it in ac and dc

Yeah, mine always sounds pretty mad, I think thats just the way they are.

But it sounds a lot madder when one of the screws vibrates loose and the cover rattles, you might wanna check and just make sure they are all tight.

Got any projects in mind for this thing? :)

yea the cart for it and whatever projects come up. nice little welder but I can feel the different in power to the ideal arc still a keeper tho and at that price how could i go wrong? I could still sell it in a couple years for twice what I have in it. the rods alone are worth $300 or more those little pack are like 8 bucks a piece!

Anyone want pictures of the cart build this weekend or have y'all seen enough welds and carts maybe even some wiring?
