Thank you for these. I can't say enough good about them. Enough information, and short enough to use as a review before I start something

Re: How to use a cutting torch

Anyone know if there is a way to save Wayne's cutting videos? I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to do this myself. It would be nice to make sure that the info he took the time to post up to help others was saved and available to others in the future and doesn't get lost with his passing.

If need be I can go back into this thread and edit the links to new ones. It would be nice to know the old link as well as the new one for simplicity.

    Thanks.

Re: How to use a cutting torch

After reading this thread multiple times and watching all of Mr Wayne's cutting videos, I decide to try his tip cleaning method on my 00, 0, and 1 Smith MC-12 tips. I filed the face flat and smooth then deburred and cleaned the orifices. I was able to get a flame as shown in the videos and a cutting jet of equal length with the "crackling" sound. This resulted in some very clean and quality cuts on some 1/4" and 3/8" plate i had laying around.

Every time I use my torches now I think of Wayne and I am still in a slight state of shock that he is gone so young.

Great video's, I have just started using a propane / oxygen torch my cuts are ugly, I can see a lot that I'm doing wrong from watching Wayne video's. His video are going to give me a good jump forward on making clean cut's.
Here is a link to free software to down load video's onto your computer. Would hate to lose such good videos.

Not sure if it's out there, but It would be nice to see photo's of bad cut and a good cut and how to improve. Something people could easily try on there own.

Man, I've been reading through these posts. What good information. Sad thing, losing a guy that dedicated that much of himself, helping others out. Guys like that are getting scarce.

Re: How to use a cutting torch

So sad to get to the end of this thread and find he is gone. The info on cutting made me go "ARRGH" why didn't I get taught that years ago?
I went to his page and checked out all his stuff. Impressive indeed. The "shop" compressor was total over-kill. Love it. I actually re-built a slightly smaller version of the G/D he had, a 9X9. Great old "one lunger". I would have loved to have asked him questions about it.

Re: How to use a cutting torch

Irish fixit, thanks for all the video's. I have 35-40 years welding experience but suck at cutting with a torch. Lately I have been spoiled with plasma and air-arc, making it worse. My worst issue is when I start my cut my flame almost always pops and goes out with a whistle. Usually contaminating the tip as well. After watching the video's I wonder if I am holding it too close, and my oxygen PSI is too low. Any other hints would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Any hints on cutting a bevel on 12mm plate for a weld test? (1/2 inch). Bevel needs to be around 37 degrees and can be done free hand or braced on a piece of angle. Plate is held in a clamping table. So far my instructors have said plenty of preheat, and shown a way to cut from one end of the plate pulling towards you. However ideal tip size and adjustments would be helpful.
    Cheers.
