Help - how to grind/sand aluminum?

I'm making a small art type project out of aluminum. I want to grind the TIG welds all around the edges flat and square. I almost have the outside edges done, just need to touch up some spots.

My problem is how to grind/sand the inside oval part? Too small to get a flap disc inside and I have tried a file, but that is a slow go. I think I may just have to sand by hand to keep the edges square but again it is too slow. Are there files just for aluminum?

I thought I would get your suggestions of a better way. Think of a football shape 1" across inside an object and the space is about 1 1/2" high by 5" long.

Sanding roll on a small grinder.Put bees wax on sanding roll will help keep alumanium from clogging up sandpaper

I prefer the flap rolls in a die grinder. Most of the ones I use are 1" diameter.
