P&H built machines for specific purposes for their customers. The "AC Only" TIG machines were probably for welding aluminum and magnesium only. (probably aircraft manufacturers) I would not recommend using it for welding steel. AC does not create the heat distribution needed. A machine with DCRP capability is what you need.

    Re: P&H Tig

Hi I know this is an old thread and I am new to this forum so advise accordingly if I should approach posting in a better way. This post is relevant to my situation. I recently acquired an old Linde DAL 300 HFGW TIG welder which was made under licence in Toronto. It is almost identical to the P&H unit I see in photos on the internet. As I am new to this machine and to TIG welding I need some help. First does anyone have a circuit diagram for this unit. The one I have is incomplete, falling apart and hard to read.

I had it transported from Chilliwack in BC to my place about 700km. I have removed the cover and blown the insides down. What do I need to look for before plugging it in. I plan to bury a dedicated ground Rod or can I use existing ones for my solar panels and utility supply which are bonded together close to where I am planning to place the unit. Do I need to worry about the electronics in my workshop (solar panel devices) if I have everything grounded and the gaps set according to an earlier post in this thread.

At first glance all looks good. I can send photos.
