Has anybody replaced T12 Flourescent bulbs with T8 LED Bulbs in their shop/garage ?

I put up a strip of four 2x4ft led fixtures yesterday.

Good enough for now. I’ll redo the whole shop ....maybe never. LOL.

It really surprises me that you do not have an epoxy floor.

I thought about that too.... I missed a killer sale that my son got in on that was basically paint price. By the time I checked it was back to $3.5k v.s. $350 so I went paint. In a work shop it's going to take a beating either way and there will be casualties. Lights look good... if they hadn't been so expensive when I built the shop I would have went all LED, right now I'm about half and half. A well lit shop is sooo much nicer to work in...

This is the best deal I could find for Canada without spending all day researching.

Yea.... I think the ones my electrician brought in were right around $140 each. I don't know how I feel about that plugin link. I know the electrician's complained about the hardwire versions not having much room to work, and maybe the plugin solves that, but they seem a little light duty to me.

No problems here. I’m a “light” duty kinda guy.

Prices are all over the place, as is quality. Efficiency Vermont sometimes pays a substantial share. I have paid $5X.XX up to $70.00 for top quality equivalent for 4' 2 tube. These usually rated for 50,000 hour life.

I confess, my first ever whole industrial building LED is at a 20% failure rate 6 years later. Otherwise, I just do not see failures.

I finally finished getting the ballasts pulled out, then cleaning up a bushel of bugs under the cover of each fixture. Wipe them down with cleaner to clean up that mess. Then the rewiring.

All of this on ladders with my arms above my head. I gotta say I don't know how you guys above 50 years old can do this for hours at a stretch. I know I'm soft driving a keyboard for a living, but after an hour of ladder work every morning for the past week everything aches.

One of my commercial tenants needed a pair of fenders (he already purchased ) welded on his personal trailer a few years back. He offered to pay but I declined as I did it as a favor.

A week later he asked me if I wanted this rollling ladder he pulled out of a TI job....

I'm WAY too old to be standing on ladders.

I did some checking around when I wanted to light up an area for painting my car. The general suggestion was that for a shop like that to used 5000 k led's I am using these in fixtures with the ballast pulled out. These are single pin'ers.
