Does anyone have practical experience (or test figures) comparing heat output of the Turbotorch TX500 set (I think 504 is hotter than 503) vs Turbotorch STK-11 vs the BernzOmatic TS8000? The Turbotorch literature is confusing in that they say that the TX500 series is hoter than any other hand torch. However, I found a table which says that the STK-11 will silver braze 2" copper tubing, while the TX504 will silver braze only 1 1/4" copper tubing. I read one post that said the Bernz auto-light feature quit after only a short life.

I had an old torch which was may father's. It was a Turbotorch Spitfire for use with MAPP. Apparently it's not made anymore. It looked similar to the current STK-9. I thought it was great, but now I see that there are a lot of improvements which have been developed.

I have nothing right now, so I'm trying to figure out what to get while reading is cheaper than trying out.

I have a turbotorch w/five interchangeable tips for use w/acetylene. I purchased it in the early 1980's and it's never let me down. If I were looking to replace, this what I would go after again. I've silver soldered copper line for HVAC and chillers several times up to and including 2.50" refrigerant lines.
