Hypertherm 45xp vs. Miller Spectrum 625

The miller will be outfitted with 20' leads plus the $100 rebate brings total to $1720

The hypertherm unit w/o cpc and same length leads is $1775

Which unit would you guys recomend all things considered.

Im coming from a Hobart 27 amp unit and wanted to cut 3/16 and 1/8th faster.

Also in the running is the poor man's 625, the Hobart airforce 40i.

    Cheers!

Hypertherm hands down, Miller/Hobart are not as good as they used to be.

I'd wager that between Hypertherm, Thermal Dynamics, Miller, and Lincoln, Hypertherm owns 90% of the market. There's a reason.

Miller is good, but the Hypertherm is BEST.

I only have a small Miller 375 Extreme because I got it new for half price... and you can see I'm a die hard blue fan...

The only problem I see with the 45XP is that it can't run on 120v.

A major advantage to the 625 and 40i are the dual voltage capabilities for mobility...

On 120v power, the Miller has a duty cycle of 20% at 27A. That's pretty weak.

Unless your plan is to take the plasma cutter in to somebody's garage and run it off of their Home Depot special pancake compressor, then mobility with the Hypertherm won't be a problem. If you're operating off of a service truck, with a generator and an engine driven air compressor, then 230v is fine because probably every generator you can buy today provides 230v power.

If you're working in a shop, well, a shop that doesn't have 230v power won't be in business very long. Even kitchens in restaurants have 230v power.

I had a Spectrum. Excellent machine. I got into the table thing so bought a 45 pre XPand sold the Spectrum. Now I find myself needing a 110 rig more often than planned. 30XP air. ASAP. Whats another couple grand when we're having fun,........
Hillbilly all the 110 machines are 20% So is the 30air but 35% with the 220 connected
