What's the story with Mandrels for this? In there one in the box?
I am unable to find a part # for the mandrel alone...
You will not beat this price anywhere!
I have around 80 boxes from a business liquidation I recently picked up.
EACH BOX CONTAINS 10 discs, so compare prices. These discs retail for around $13 each!
These are great for removing paint, rust, scale, adhesives, and for doing general metal prep.

Just search google for 3M Roloc shaft. You will also need the backing pad that the discs thread into.

Here is a picture of what you will need. The box only contains the bristle discs themselves.
Well, of course there are Dozens of Roloc mandrels (the Vast majority for the scotchbright pads I have now). But I'm unable to find the 5/8's version specifically for the 3" 18734 bristle disks that these are...
Oh! I can find pictures just not the part!
I believe all Rolocs are the same as far as how they screw in. It's just these work better with the 3" pad. I suppose you could use these with a 2" pad as well.
Here is a cheapie 3" on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/RamPro-Roloc-...keywords=roloc
For some reason, all the 3" mandrels I find have a 1/4" shaft. That can't be right one!
I've really looked, .pdf's from 3M, all kinds of sellers,,,, nobody talks about having that 5/8-11 thread for the grinder that I can find (think we're gonna need that )

OK, back from dinner.
So I guess what I've come across that confuses me is, I know I've seen a reference (somewhere) to the thread pitch (the 11) at one of the sales pages. Plus, from this common pic from 3M themselves, that I assumed has an internal thread for an angle grinder. I mean, 1" or 2" maybe on a 1/4" shaft but I would think this is about a sm angle grinder, not a "die grinder"...
The ones in the original post are standard ROLOC connection. The 5/8 is the length of the bristles.

BaTu, to help me help you, can you tell me what tool you plan on using these with.
Again some sort of 4" angle grinder is what I expected everybody was using. But if everybody uses some sort of die grinder (I have several) I guess it will be good enough for me too!
What about the pic though? What's THAT go on I wonder?
Pretty standard to use these with pneumatic die grinders not electric angle grinders. The pic just shows part of the piece I linked from Amazon. The other part would be a 1/4" shaft with a threaded end and a lock nut. If you buy the Roloc pad linked from Amazon you are good to use these with any die grinder.
Kool..
Came across the same add on Phoenix CL...only 40 bucks?
Tried copy and paste, it the pic won't show.

Sorry, just realized the 40$ price is local pick up.
For a 5/8 x 11 mount, try this 3M link and select the 3" size.

Looks like they have only one for 5/8 x 11: http://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-u...4946953&rt=rud Uses the TR attachments.
They have several different hardnesses for the 4" sizes.

WOW! That's it, part # 55765. Thank You! I could not find that for some reason...
I got my box of 10 yesterday, still not sure of the best way to use them though. I notice there's a lot of talk about a 15,000rpm max which now makes me question "angle grinder" power. Might need the speed of a die grinder to work best.
3M has so much stuff, it's hard to find on their site. And their web site isn't the easiest to search and drill down in.

How long does one last? I have some 4ft expanded metal outdoor round tables to do. Think I could do 3 tables with one?
I received my package but haven't had a chance to use them yet.
