Apologies I'm sure this has been brought up before but trying to use search from my phone is a PIA.

How have people been liking the certiflat tables?

I'm looking to get a table for fixturing the props I make that I can roll off the wall and walk around. My current table is too long for the space im in and I keep it jacked up on legs so I never really roll it out due to its weight.

I'm looking to get the 42x36 fab block I think. My prop is 34.5" x 30.5" so with the size of stronghand corner clamps I think that's the smallest I can go but for $700 plus shipping I figure I'd make sure they're actually decent though still cheap for a welding table...

Update: just calculated shipping they want $224 to ship it... that's insane any other options out there in the same range if I don't want to deal with making my own from scratch.

Don't you have a mag drill? A not so carefully sheet will be better than 1/16. "Not so carefully" being you can visually see that much variation.

I don't desire to build work tables . however the certiflat has to be welded kinda like building a table. A flat slab only needs drilling (fixturing holes) and a base. My 3/4x3x5 is not even fixed to the base.

With 700 bucks you might even be able to get a heavy sheet and have it ground flat in your dimensions. Though mill finish might work well, too.

Dead flat is mostly over rated. That certiflat table will be certiwarpped the first time you beat on something that is on it. A frame would likely take a couple hours to make, then order a piece of 1/2"-5/8" plate and tack it to the top. If you want holes and can't make them, take it to an AWJ guy and have him make holes. Fairly cheap alternative and much more stout.

I have one of the certiflat tables and I like it a lot. Mine is flat to about 12 thou. In the spirit of full disclosure I only live about 20 mins from the manufacturer, so shipping was not an issue.

I just received and built one of the Certi-flat tables. For a hobby welder like myself, it's perfect. The leg kit with the castors makes it a great mobile table but still very heavy duty and well made. I'm very pleased with the table and quality. From my experience (I had a small issue) the company is very responsive to customers/satisfaction. For those interested they are having a special $19 shipping anywhere in the US right now. Considering the weight of the 2 boxes mine came it, that's a pretty good deal.

I used a straight edge from one edge to the other and than used feeler gauges to measure any gaps

Withe the $19 shipping, I actually buy a 3'x5' or so a a small mobile welding bench, but 3/16" thick? That's lame, and a useless waste. 3/8" MINIMUM for something I would use.

I built this...it is not exact...but works great. As the slates are adjustable...they can be dialed on damn close.

Reality is...if you tack weld something down to it...or get splatter on it...you need to grind it off anyhow. Those certiflat tables are great I am sure...but any grinding, hammering or just general abuse...would tend to render that perfect top ...well...less than perfect.

Built this one. It was flat, now it's bowed in the middle. I need to put in a center post
