Getting close to finishing table #7

I have been working on this table of a little while, wanted to share.
This is a from scratch DIY CNC plasma/router table that is for 4' X 8' material. I have powered it up and ran the steps per calibrations and wired the limit/home switches. The face of the Z axis will except either a Router or Plasma torch mounting plate. The Plasma will have a floating head switch and a Ohmic sensor. Attached are a few images.

Re: Getting close to finishing table #7

cost about $1300 plus a plasma unit or router. They are a great addition to a shop, good way to add revenue. I have done many fun project and sold many other parts that others use in assemblies for machines.
some fun stuff and a wall hanger for a local church, first image show 1/4" plate cuts scrape against the wall.
I do sell plans and parts for building a table.

Testing dust shoe when routing wood and aluminum, video shows it in action (turn down the sound). Removed 100% of the wood and 99% of aluminum.
I used 2 different bits, "V" on wood and 1/8" ball nose on aluminum. Not pleased with the ball nose I think the aluminum was sticking to it, will try a engraving bit soon.

Another progress update, attached a drag knife to the Z axis and cut some vinyl decals for the controller. And completed a floating head torch holder.

Wow very impressive $1300 is very cost effective for a 4'x8' table. Of that cost how many parts are store bought and how many did you have to machine? I am guessing the average welder with out milling or lathe machines would not be able to build a table like this for the price you mention.

Re: Getting close to finishing table #7

There are only a few parts that need machining, and I do sell those, here is a video showing how I machine them. the table requires 30

The other parts can be bought from Ebay, Amazon or other locations, I buy the PC to run it from Overstocked.com for about $120 (include in the $1300). Much of the other material is off the shelf.

Awesome. Where is the build thread with a material list or are you selling the plans? Is Software included in that price or additional. I have never run a CNC anything so anytime I see builds like this I am instantly intrigued and interested in all there is to know.

Plans can be bought with all the info that is needed to build a table, including software tutorials. I do sell cut steel and machined parts to help with a build. Having one of these table opens up a whole new area for projects and fun.

Re: Getting close to finishing table #7

Sorry no web site but many youtube videos Table #7 has a new home. Pm me with your email if you have questions.
Running a router is no much difference then Plasma, mostly the post processor you use. mainly with plasma you find the top of the material and go up and routing you go down from there, also routing Z home is up and plasma its down. many different programs dealing with routing, it just depends on what you want to do. Sign making, wall plaques, inlays, and carved objects program run from $50 to $500, or the ones I hate a subscription type. $150 per year.
New video showing a drag knife I made with a 3D printer, drag knife will cut sign vinyl. A side use is to make templates for acid etching metal.
